Serious or funny threads you wished you had the courage to start up

Recommended Posts

I've often wondered why some things never get a mention on this forum, I understand that sometimes topics on the news etc. can sometimes be controversial, or some topics doing the rounds don't get mentioned because some are too worried about appearing less than intelligent for mentioning them, or it could just be that some topics are just so boring they illicit neither comment nor response (as I am sure this one will)- So heregoes putting my tuppenceworth in, sorry its lunchtime, I'm bored and its too cold to go out, please feel free to add any fantasy threads or funny ones:-

1. Celeb Big Bro - Terry to Win?

2. Pointless thread posters - what to do with them?

3.

Sometimes I don't want to say what I really feel because I may meet those I may inadvertently offend at a future date. Certainly I have received very personal offensive PMs from people who happened to disagree with my point of view and I would want to thump them if I met them!

Sometimes I say exactly what I think and worry not what people say, reasoning that I'll never meet them.

I'd start a thread saying:

"What would you want to say if you really really were face to face with GBrown/B Obama / Kim Humphreys (Head of Southwark Housing who is a tory spindoctor) etc etc but then I think, what would be the point? We won't meet them and they don't read this forum DO YOU KIM you pointless nasty career-politician you! I did start the thread that went something like "What would you do if you were the big boss of Southwark Council which got several pages to my surprise.

I'm bored by my own response, now.

On the contrary PR, I would never let anything or anyone's opinion on this thread bother me so much that I wanted to go and thump them (she lies, she lies!!), although I have to say sometimes it is entertaining, I appreciate your honesty and can't believe that you actually received threatening PMs in relation to anything you have posted on a forum, having said that, I have yet to check out your posting history ha! as a matter of fact, I have yet to check out my PMs!;-)

How about a thread called "The beast within".

Recently I admitted on a thread that whilst I am not a violent person, and don't get in to fights, there is a part of me deep down that would have laughed had I seen a particular incident where someone got a slap for being (in my opinion) I bit of a tit.

Would be interested in hearing other people admit to things that don't really fit in with their nice, polite, friendly, reasonable persona

Start a thread for when one is in need of an emergency f*ck buddy for the night. Such contenders of both sexes and all sexual tastes would have to have been vetted for not only cleanliness and health, but for being discreet and discrete.

That's buddies, no money to exchange hands.

Oh GOD don't press send.

Hmm - I think Miles already started something similar to this (but not is so many words or implying sex or strings or over 40) http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?9,204917

Indeed, we're all grown ups, I'd love to see a sex shop on Lordship Lane along the lines of Sh!That's a thread I don't have courage to start....

PR maybe you just have started a threads on SH without realising it

I went to a Sex Shop once, and I now want to do them under the trade descriptions act as they didn't actually sell sex there, just toys for older boys and girl. What a Swizz

Thread: "You have 3 bullets in a gun. Who would you shoot?"

I don't know why it's only 3, maybe i'm not as violent as I like to pretend.

1.) Mariah Carey.

2.)

3.)

Actually, I think I would just shoot her 3 times... just to make sure.

I was quite tempted to start another 'I think I'm in love with...' thread after reading about that particular incident, I must admit...

"Unpopular/politically incorrect views and beliefs " would be REALLY interesting on EDF given the diversity of Guys contributing here(!).

It has been a thread on the Blacknet Site for many months and it has been most enlightening particularly as,originally,by definition, there could be no replies.

To overcome this a "Rebuttal" thread was created with amusing and insightful consequences.

Genuinely unsure that it would work here as once certain threads got "heated up" they would be pulled and so would certain contributors,in my view.

So in our Non-Risk,Play-Safe,Namby=Pampy-No-one's fault or to blame 2009 British Culture lets,er,play safe(the complete antithesis of what I feel as I've been a Risk-taker for most of my life)...

a "rant at your boss" thread, (hoping he/she is not a forumite here!)

a "what you really think of the other forumites" thread

a "how many names are you listed as under this forum?" thread

a "how many cats did you shoot this morning in ED?" thread (seem to be an inordinate amount of "have you seen my moggy" threads on this forum

;-)

Hmmm

howabout

"If I was the opposite sex would I want to shag me if I met myself (as I am now) in a bar?"

Gets kind of tricky as it implies that you fancy the same sex as yourself, that you are critical of yourself if you say no and also that you are weird for even thinking about it

(oh and the answer from me is no, I would be too busy trying to work out what the hell I was doing dressed up as a woman -- again)

    • Hi DuncanW, Price is a function of supply and demand where demand is a function of the taxation or properties, price and availability of finance for all the different type of buyers both domestic and foreign individual and business and corporate. Much foreign buying also have some cultural issues around not buying or even using second hand homes so they remain empty - see lack of lights on riverside proprieties in London.  Hi beansprout, Finland solution, admittedly a much smaller country, that housing the homeless is significantly cheaper than not housing them in terms of health, social ,etc costs.    Southwark has the joint highest number of empty council homes, and second worst total number of empty homes a smidgen behind Barnet Council in London - https://www.selondoner.co.uk/news/16052025-southwark-council-sees-most-empty-homes-owned-as-long-term-vacants-increase-again .  We do have infill sites in the area. Infiill sites are small parcels of land. The Railway site isn't an infill site, it's too big. It is a raised area by roughly two storeys compared to the area where a  9 storey tower and other 7 & 8 storey blocks will be built on top. This is totally out of character for the area. Many residents will be directly impacted. Other developers on the night told me after the Panning Committee approval that they were shocked it had been approved. It has changed their attitudes of what can be approved in the area. Dulwich Hamlet ground has very recently been approved to be moved to Metropolitan Open Land green open space to allow the current ground to be rebuilt into from memory 248 flats. It seems clear Labour councils have been directed by the Labour Government to 'approve baby approve'. Southwark Council and the Labour Government are planning the reduction in the proportion of Social Housing in new housing developments from 35% to 20%. This likely to delay a number of approved schemes while they recycle through the planning process to reduce their social housing numbers.  WRT student numbers. The peak is forecast in 2030 with rapid decline thereafter. International students numbers already declining. What will happen to these blocks of small studio rooms in the longer term once student numbers are down? Students likely to choose more centrally located blocks. Current student accommodation such as Champion Hill has been closed for a number of years with no rush to reopen it so King's doesn't appear to feel pressure on the student accommodation front.
