Chartwell
Have you asked her? Does she have set objectives to work towards? If you can set them, do, and review them. Is she clear of your expectations? Does she understand how she fits into the greater scheme of things? (at work, not necessarily in life!) Help her understand the impact of her work shyness on you (and the rest of the team?). Set a timeframe for improvement. Here endeth the lesson. Ant
Good lord! Someone talking sense in the lounge!? There ought to be a piercing AROOOO-GA!-style siren to warn us of such things. Took me quite unawares, that did. :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/494-how-do-you-motivate-a-work-shy-female-colleague/#findComment-11041 Share on other sites

bagpuss78
To explain the choking is due to nasty chest infection and the ability to breath is hard enough let alone impromptu bouts of laughter! Bagpuss78 I hope your screen didn't suffer with any stray spittle!I'm sounding the alarm again as I am going to be sensible some more...Jimbo - document all your chats (even if informal) and make clear if no improvement it might lead to dismissal, if she's got more than one year's service you will need to follow a statutory dismissal procedure. Here's the link to ACAS who will tell you all you need to know!!ACASStand at ease...
