Robert Poste's Child
Has anyone ever dried walnuts? How do you do it, and how do you know the right moment to pick them? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/49262-walnuts/ Share on other sites
Robert Poste's Child
Thanks! The squirrels always get to the ones in the park before the nuts are ripe enough to fall but I've found a tree in a road where residents are apparently too well heeled to pick their own. Very excited. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/49262-walnuts/#findComment-783037 Share on other sites
Robert Poste's Child
Just remembered - do you have to beat them with sticks to get the nuts to fall?'A woman, a spaniel and a walnut tree,The more you beat them, the better they be' etc? Can't believe I just posted that without a hint of irony. numbers
Wet walnuts. Mmm. my favourites.Pickle them instead. Just wait till you can pull them from the tree without resistance then you know they're ready.
