It's a worry alright Giggi, we must be ever vigilant.

I've been hearing about this for some time now Giggi, as it's their 40th this year the rumour mill started early last year.

Let joy be unconfined, let there be dancing in the streets, let there be a large influx of balding blokes in leather jackets to the Hammersmith area on the 2nd and 3rd of October this year.

Seriously this is good news for me, especially as it's going to be just a two off, they've apparently been offered quite serious money at various times over the years to reform, they were biggish in the US for a time in the early seventies after all.

Couldn't be happier if you bought me a new hat.

I thought you might be more than a little excited.

Hammersmith is a great venue if you have good seats - otherwise, not. The venue is very wide, so it's important not to be stuck at the extreme sides; otherwise the view is a little skewed. Can I suggest you print off the Theatremonkey seating plan and have it in front of you when you're selecting your seats. The monkey does not lie.

Good grief! Just spotted this...are Mott The Hoople really reforming? May I pose the question:- Ariel Bender or Mick Ralphs? Obviously you'll be wanting the original line-up but they did go through a few changes didn't they.

You must be as happy as I am about The Faces reforming this year Hona. Quite a year ahead.

It is Ralpher JL, the complete original line up. I'm keen on seeing the Faces as well.

And yes I'm as happy as a dog with two dicks.

I am indeed thank you Giggi,

Stalls for the 2nd and circle for the 3rd, could be better but they were selling really fast.

Because it's only two dates, there are a lot of people coming from the US and Europe, so demand is high.

I'm off for a stroll in a moment and you can bet my hat will be at a jaunty angle, and I'll be tunelessly whistling All The Young Dudes.

Yowsah!

Actually I noted the seat numbers thanks to your theatre monkey recommendation, but I've left the note at work.

The stalls are round about the centre and looked OK, the circle is towards the back, but I took them anyway.

Obviously I'd like the best possible seats which is what I asked for, but they were going at a very fast rate, so in the end I settled for what was available for fear of losing out completely.

For me it's an 'event' kind of gig if you know what I mean, Mott meant a lot to me, though I wasn't a very early fan, as soon as I heard them there was a connection. Oh and I came to them well before the 'hit' (the music snob will out of course).

A lot of the draw of Mott was of course Ian Hunter, who I thought was worthy of hero worship as a young 'un and to a certain extent as an older 'un still do, he's never done anything to embarrass me, he's ploughed his own furrow and actually is a hugely underated songwriter, though obviously not by me.

And he looked and still looks great.

So I'll be taking my son to at least one of the nights, if not both. He's a fan of Ian and we always go and see him when he's over. He's also a fan of Mott, I absolutely insisted on it, and in fact made a note to that effect on the bottom of his birth certificate.

So you see Giggi, it's not just another show where I might dismiss it if the seats weren't OK, I have to be in that building on those evenings, breathing the air, being with people for whom Mott meant so much and whose songs soundtracked our lives.

If it was the offer of the janitor's closet with an ear trumpet, I'd have said yes.

So bless you once again for asking.

I'm off to phone my boy now with the good news.

HUGS.

You put a tear in my eye Hoochie. I can barely remember the time when something was this special for me and, to be honest, I'm a little envious. Very special gigs come along so infrequently. I guess you've waited 35 years for your big nights out and that takes some beating. Also, I am very very very spoilt and I won't get out of bed unless I get the best seats.

That's pretty much how I feel about The Faces reforming HonaloochieB although I feel it certainly will not be the same without the very marvellous and lovely and very sadly deseased Ronnie Lane. I hope you and your boy have a top night out and I'm sure you will.

Roll Away The Stone indeed.

You say spoilt Giggi, no I won't have that, I say worth it.

Thank you for the sweet tear, and I know there'll be more than one or two shed on the nights.

Not least by me at Mott's proper swansong. Although who knows...?

Thanks for your kind wishes JL, though I've just realised the shows are nine months away.

That's plenty of time for me to receive the tickets, put them 'somewhere safe', forget where they are, and not be able to find them the day before the shows. I'm now in a muck sweat.

Holy crap. I may contact TicketBastard and tell them not to entrust tickets to me until a week before the event, on the basis that I don't take proper care of my things.

Mind, as I said before I'm fancying The Faces as well, never saw them live, but have the LPs, and as you say, Ronnie Lane not being there will be a massive loss, I would so love to hear 'Debris' and particularly 'You're So Rude' live by him.

Fantastic songs.

But I'd be hugely keen to seem them, depending on where they play.

Keep 'em peeled and keep us informed.

Don't worry about losing tickets. If you can't find them just ring TicketBastard two days before the event and tell them that your tickets haven't turned up and that it's pretty shoddy service and that you're not a happy camper and it's just not good enough. They'll put a duplicate set of tickets on the door for you. NEVER admit to having lost them or they'll just tell you to go take a jump. Doesn't work with tickets that you've had to sign for though.

I would really like to see The Faces too. I was lucky enough to see Ronnie Lane MANY years ago at the Albert Hall with Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton and all sorts of really top people. I didn't know who he was at the time - wish I could put the clock back.

Thanks for the tip Giggi.

Actually I think I'd buy tickets to watch you dealing with TicketBastard.

Provided of course I got the 'God you're beautiful when you're angry', line.

Now that'd be worth a booking fee.

Sybil Fawlty, eh? Angry, eh?

Well, anything like the time when she duffed up the Irish builder in her golfing trousers is fine by me.

HUGS

Thanks Giggi, yes, missed out on the pre sale tickets so will have to take my chances with the riff-raff on Monday morning.

There's a lot of mixed feelings/opinions on the Ian Hunter MB concerning this, some feel that the 'opening night' has been usurped and that they've now been cheated of that. Others that any sound/playing problems will get ironed out and therefore the Fri and Sat will be all the better for it.

I'm of the view that I'll take all I can get thanks very much, and I'll be doing my best to cop some more tickets on Monday.

    • Please rescue. There are plenty of kittens waiting in shelters for a loving home. Try reaching out to https://straycatclub.org.uk/ You can also find an endless list of shelters down below: https://www.catchat.org/index.php/cat-rescue-centres-uk-ireland You should be vetted to ensure you can provide a suitable environment. Unlike breeders, shelters ensure kittens have been spayed/neutered, microchipped & recieve their vaccination.
    • hellosailor, I feel you on this one. People continue to breathe life into the misconceptions that cats are low-maintenance, natural wanderers or that they can't be prevented from accessing a road - all of which no doubt contributes to these harsh measures. Shelters would do better using their position & platforms to educate rather than applying blanket rules that alienate potential adopters. It does sound like there are inconsistencies in the way Celia Hammond operates. I know of people who have adopted despite not providing a truly suitable environment for their cats. Personally, I was heartbroken to learn that two of the kittens that I had fostered, after being adopted, would later go "missing" on a regular basis. It's a stark reminder that while safety precautions are crucial, overly rigid policies may push well-meaning people toward buying instead of adopting, undermining the very mission of rescue organisations. TWB has taken the initiative to lead by example, teaching clients the importance of mental & physical enrichment, & having policies in place to prevent, for example, the dangers that come with giving cats access to the streets. It has become far too commonplace to see posts regarding cats who have been run over, only for the owners to adopt & repeat the cycle all over again. If shelters could provide insight on why these measures are in place & solutions, these shelters would not only free space within their shelters but educate the public & the overall standards of responsible pet ownership in London. Celia Hammond is a charity most are familiar with, but there are so many others listed within this link; https://www.catchat.org/index.php/cat-rescue-centres-uk-ireland An up & coming charity that is not found in this link, that deserves an honorable mention is https://straycatclub.org.uk/
    • Looking for a new member of the family.  Will be looking into cat resuce centre's as well before anyone mentions. But my son is in adoration with Kittens and would like to bring one up from a young age. If anyone has any leads, they would be most welcome.
    • I'm not suggesting that the staff are not good people, it's a fantastic charity to work or volunteer for and what they champion and advocate for is super important. It's great that you had a successful adoption through them and really good to hear that you had a positive experience but I was relaying that anecdotally the many people I know who have tried to rescue a cat from them have been turned down. I myself tried to adopt from them a few years ago and they nixed my application when I said I lived on a road which cars go down. They didn't even do a home visit, that was enough to rule us out. Hopefully things have changed since then to allow more animals to find a loving home.
