We are planning to travel to NYC for a wedding in November, we will (probably) stay in NYC for 3-4 days and then would like to head Upstate (with the rest of the wedding party) for Thankgiving and a couple of days if there's enough to see / do or come back for another night or two in NYC on the way back. We will hire a car to drive Upstate.

Total trip maximum length is 10 days but we could go shorter.

It's just my partner and I and our daughter who will be nearly 3. Can anyone recommend places to go Upstate? The family will be based in Woodstock but is there anything to see / do around there at this time of year? I know it will be cold so hoping for some festive stuff and family friendly stuff really?

Also if anyone wants to recommend a family friendly place to stay then please go ahead. We are OK for the NYC bit as been before but a bit stuck on Upstate.

Many thanks!

Don't have any advice on upstate I'm afraid but we've just got back from a few days in NYC with our 3 year old and it was fantastic, he totally loved it and it was loads of fun. Happy to share everything we did if you do fancy some extra inspiration!

    • So it's an assumption, then? You haven't spoken to the driver?!
    • Article in today's Grauniad on how to save money on water bills. Though only if you are  on a meter. If you aren't on a meter, there's nothing you can do to reduce your bills, so far as I know. Though from an environmental point of view etc I guess it is always good to reduce your water usage where you can. https://www.theguardian.com/money/2025/apr/16/cut-water-bill-england-wales-best-ways-to-save?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other
