ksh
Train times between East Dulwich and London Bridge seem to have changed and also reduced in number.Any one know if these are permanent changes? ksh
Thanks.I had assumed that was only relevant for last week whilst LB was shut.....obviously not. BrandNewGuy
Here's the relevant bit:The key peak services now will be:East Dulwich to London Bridge (curtailed services to S Bermondsey) marked as '-'):07:0907:2007:3007:4007:50-08:1008:2008:30-08:51London Bridge to East Dulwich:17:1017:2517:4017:5718:1018:3018:40 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/48570-changes-to-train-times-between-ed-lb/#findComment-778355 Share on other sites
ksh
Many thanks.Shame they're doing this, just means the trains will be even more cramped! Angharad_L
So ANNOYING. Took me an hour and a half to get to work today. 8.40 train stops in South Bermondsey, the 8.41 from Peckham was cancelled and the Northern line was shut! Argh Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/48570-changes-to-train-times-between-ed-lb/#findComment-778383 Share on other sites
BrandNewGuy
Actaully, the 08.51 wasn't too crowded this morning. At some point I'm sure they'll restore the "every ten minutes-ish" frequency, but with all the work going on at LB, it's inevitable there will be inconvenient tweaks. Platforms 12 and 13 are now open and it looks like there's plenty of space on shared platform 13 and 14. I only hope the same will be true for platform 15 when they've completed work on the new side entrance. ksh
Have they said they are going to restore the "every ten minutes-ish" service at some point? BrandNewGuy
No, but there's no reason to think they won't when the works are completed. The two morning trains are stopping short at South Bermondsey because of rush hour congestion at LB due to closed platforms. spanglysteve
I don't really see the point of stopping services short at SB. In reality, who is choosing to ride to SB and then continuing their journey from there? ksh
Agree, seems totally pointless.Think I'll voice my opinions to some poor unexpecting member of staff next time i see one. Plus others want to go to QRP to change to the Overground. The short-stopping trains in fact do carry on (empty) to LB then come straight back out empty ? as there's obviously nowhere to turn round at SB :-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/48570-changes-to-train-times-between-ed-lb/#findComment-778437 Share on other sites
spanglysteve
If they do continue to LB why not just run it full service in that case. It would only add a couple of minutes for the train to disembark. No need to run full service back (allowing time for boarding) as presumably the demand is far less leaving LB in the morning. Earl Aelfheah
Just a heads up, although the new timetable is accurate in terms of departures, real life arrivals bear no resemblance to it. Add 10-15 minutes. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/48570-changes-to-train-times-between-ed-lb/#findComment-778607 Share on other sites
MarkE
@RRR - it's interesting this has a feel of the experience we had before Platform 14-15 were reopened. Queues to get into LBG which weren't so prevalent since Easter when 14-15 were partitioned from the rest due to 12-13 being shut. Now that 12-15 are all open again, there's probably more demand for track and signals on the same sections of track which have a knock-on impact to the rest of the services.I'm also noticing waits to depart South Bermondsey in the evenings, which hasn't been there in the past.Next big change due at Christmas, so this could be a feature of the next four months... AD
Agree re arrivals, the 14 minute train ride now seems to take nearly 25 minutes. MarkE
Just found out that some of the outbound trains from London Bridge are actually timetabled to wait at South Bermondsey for five minutes... Presumably to avoid clashing with the overground services down the line. Wonderful scheduling. Monkey
Would be fine if trains scheduled to run actually ran. Delays again tonight. 30mn wait for a train. Fire at streatham and some other train delayed due to no driver. Can't they get a sodding grip? philosophie
The situation is a total shocker. An absolutely horrible experience and taking ages to get home every day. Who can we complain to? I don't feel like just putting up with this for the next x number of years! Guest
I honestly don't think complaining wilol do any good whtsoever. I was annoyed yesterday when I saw train ended at SB. I wanted to get to Camden and normally I get the Northern line from LB but had to get bus to the Elephant and caught the tube. As it turned out the journey was good and quick but then it was a Sunday. Monkey
More delays for me tonight. Need to investigate alternative routes... I see people are using #southeasternfail on twitter to try and coordinate some campaign. Might start using it. KidKruger
What's the deal now with morning journeys to LB - for trains before 7-8am from ED , are they taking 15 mins, 30mins ?I need to pop-up tomoro for first time in a whole (at this time). Earl Aelfheah
Honestly, trains into London Bridge are now completely random. Forget the timetable, Just make sure that you give yourself plenty of time.
