Point Zero Painting Taster Sessions: Sat 30th Aug and Tues 9th Sept

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the adventure of Point Zero Creativity!

The joyful and childlike process of spontaneous painting allows me to access the creativity below my conditioning, in both paint and life. The Point Zero way of self-questioning enables me to dissolve creative blocks, by addressing the heart in the face of my own judgements. In this way it brings me into contact with unknown aspects of myself, and ways of being which my ego has long since edited from my life.

Point Zero painting is about the process of creativity, rather than the product, so you don't need any art experience or "perceived talent". Just the willingness to surrender the result, to play and explore. There is only one rule at The Whistling Studio, which is that nobody ever comments about another person's painting. As facilitator, I wouldn't dream of it. Discussion focuses on our experience of the practice, and any obstacles to our freedom of expression that we encounter. The paintings are never critiqued. Ever. (In fact, when they are dry, they are turned to the wall.)

Be curious about what will happen when you know that it is alright to paint absolutely anything. When you are free to really participate in your painting, without ever standing back to judge it. The invitation is simply to come and be yourself in glorious, playful technicolour, in a place where all judgement has been suspended for your freedom. What if that was ok?

    • I have no information on that. I'd imagine GALA would be happy to advise you direct. I am interested to know what happened at the consultation meeting a few days ago and am hoping that someone from FOPRP can share. The concern is that it is proposed to extend the event footprint and timeframe.  If successful, this could set precedent for further extensions and for other events organisers to bid for slots throughout summer, in a scenario similar to what has happened at Brockwell Park. This is not a flight of fancy, Cllr Catherine Rose has stated intention to monetise parkland.
    • I didn't get residents tickets, but have signed up for the early bird release which goes live today at 10:00 am - I haven't received a link or access code though... anyone else?
    • I've done this 3 times recently and they actually respond very quickly to clean the mess
    • There are also really bad pitted holes further up near the school and hospital - mainly in the areas cyclists use near the pavement. I have no idea why the pavement and road surfaces of this road used by so many children walking and cycling to school is so poorly served by whoever is responsible for maintenance.  A note to all the people driving up to the barrier and forced to do a u-ey,  when there are 4 x road closed signs….. maybe the road is closed. Doh!
