How do I get the red 'new' at the end of my advert?

Everyone else seems to have the word 'new' in red at the end of their heading. Is this automatic?

Everyone else will get it, but you don't get it for your own posts.

And will disappear to each user once that user has read the thread. If someone adds content (comments/replies) it will go red with new appearing again
