Where are these people coming from?

One ce upon a time, you could walk down the delightful LL and see proud dads, casual shirt( no tie), maybe a hacking jacket/ Chino combo going on, tan slip on shoes. Very smart but fuctional for a weekend away from the trading desk.

What do we have now ? balding middle aged men with grizzly adams beards, beanies and oozing bullshit. This isnt some kind of ozric tentacles convention you realise - that dubstep you are listening to was meant for someone 20 years younger you know. Them plaid shirts are for loggers and mountain men, not tossers and desk jockeys.

take off the groovy gear daddio, bin it and act your age

Oooh this is like one of those Cosmo quizzes GFs made you do to see if you were sensitive enough back in the 80s

Balding? - Nope

Middle aged? - Apparently

Grizzly Adams Beard? - More unshaven scruffy git

Beany? - Nah

Oozing bullshit? - Always.

Ozric Tentacles? - Centre half for Panathinaikos

Dubstep? - Just dub.

Plaid shirts? - Does that include Ben Shermans?

3-3.5/8 : "You are a sensitive soul who loves nature and any woman would be happy to g-..." Okay who's been fiddling with my Cosmo!?

Balding? - Alas yes, but it started in my 20s and hasn't really progressed that far

Middle aged? - Dunno. Not young anymore, but not sure I'm middle aged yet... (36?)

Grizzly Adams Beard? - "More unshaven scruffy git" What maxxi said.

Beany? - Nah

Oozing bullshit? - Never!!!! *ahem*

Ozric Tentacles? - Remember them from the early 90s. Not my bag then, and probably not my bag now.

Dubstep? - What?

Plaid shirts? - T-Shirts for all occasions.

Balding? - thus far spared, though terrible genes in this regard, so a matter of time

Middle aged? - indubitably

Grizzly Adams Beard? - pretty beardy at the moment, for a stag do (required dress) but it'll be gone the moment the fear recedes

Beany? - sometimes in winter, you know, when its cold.

Oozing bullshit? - self evidently

Ozric Tentacles? - I think i might have a dog eared eat static cd tucked away somewhere

Dubstep? - What? (otta said)

Plaid shirts? - fuck off

My tats started wi Indian ink oan ma shoulder, rest are boozy nights. The ankles due to Edinburgh and a guy called needles.. If Jocky is reading, this was Dalkeith. Nae boather, nae hair just a Barry night oot. Lips done an aw..not mine, pals. Nae stress tattooed intae them.

Chinos and tan slip-ons? Who in their right mind would want to dress like an American tourist? There's a difference between dressing your age and dressing badly. I'm not quite ready for elasticated pants just yet, thanks.

People live until their 80s these days. The idea that chinos are the pants of choice for the last 50 of those years is hideous!

Balding? Thankfully not.

Middle aged? I know a little bit about what's going on in golf, so yes.

Beard? Not really capable; it would be a patchy tramp like job.

Beanie hat? In the winter.

Oozing bullshit? Not from my perspective mate.

OZRIC TENTACLES:)

Don't mind a bit of Skrillex

And I've got a nasty brown Slazenger shirt I sometimes wear at weekends. Was it me?

    • Article in today's Grauniad on how to save money on water bills. Though only if you are  on a meter. If you aren't on a meter, there's nothing you can do to reduce your bills, so far as I know. Though from an environmental point of view etc I guess it is always good to reduce your water usage where you can. https://www.theguardian.com/money/2025/apr/16/cut-water-bill-england-wales-best-ways-to-save?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other
