barry_hopkins
I took my car to be cleaned here for the first time since it changed hands, and believe me never again. The liquid they put on my car pre wash has totally damaged the paint work. They tried to T-cut it out but after the rain yesterday it has just washed it all out and made this chemical reaction bleed through again. Ok my car is a 2001 Astra so not the best of paint work, but what they did has totally ruined it all, I will have to get it re-sprayed myself as they are not accepting liability. I have pictures and will peruse them further... I would suggest that nobody uses this or you could end up with the same problem. New Girl
I've been meaning to post about this place. I went about a month ago and they've completely stripped the paint off my car with their pressure washers. A whole big chunk of paint on the drivers side and smaller patches on the bonnet have just been stripped off. It's absolutely terrible. I drove back 20 minutes later when I got out my car noticed and they didn't want anything to do with it. Said that 'none of the chemicals or pressure washer could do such a thing to the car'. It'll always be my word against theirs and was tempted to take action as I was furious, but I don't think I'd gain anything from it. I will never go back and warn anyone who does. The service, attitude and quality is appalling. edcam
That's awful for you both and thank you for the warning. The old lot were so good and efficient and reliable. Is it worth contacting trading standards or something? Has anyone found anywhere else nearby that is good? Sue
Also thanks for the warning, as I was going to take my car there for a (rare) wash and inside clean :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/47699-carwash-by-sainsburys-dog-kennel-hill/#findComment-771802 Share on other sites
New Girl
I hadn't thought of trading standards. That may not be a bad idea edcam. It makes my blood boil at the thought of it. The guys that were there previously were brilliant. adsyb99
The car wash in Copeland Road in Peckham is great. Think it's called Shine Car Wash. Slightly intimidating at first (they shouted quite loudly at me as I didn't know where I was supposed to drive), but they do an excellent job at a very reasonable price. buggie
The old lot weren't that great - they left my daughters car seat loose (let me drive off with her strapped in the seat but the isofix unconnected). I had to do a full turn round the roundabout & go straight back to them, they were a bit shruggy about it, but did reconnect it. However, when reconnected it kept beeping - found it was completely waterlogged which lead to me having to buy a new isofix base. When I went back to them & spoke with the guys who'd cleaned the car a few days earlier They denied any responsibility :-(Got the new guys to clean my car a few wks back & they did a good job.Would it not be the case though , if you had any rust / minor damage to the paintwork, that a pressure washer wouldn't be recommended in any situation? joftehighseas
I just came back from this car wash and I wish I had found this forum sooner! All I can say is that they have damaged my car by doing something I specifically asked them not to before handing over the key. Of course, they said "no problem" to accommodate my request but when I came back a little early from my shop, I spotted them doing exactly what I asked them not to! As a result, a 200 pounds worth of damage has been incurred to my car (just got off the phone from our garage). When I voiced my anger at this, their response was "if you were aware of this potential issue, why did you get the car washed with us" and that it was "your fault". Then they proceeded to chat angrily amongst themselves (there was a group of them) and I couldn't understand a thing they were saying. It made me feel extremely uncomfortable and to a degree, threatened as a woman on my own. We used this car wash a good 3/4 years ago and it was really well done then. Now that they have changed hands and the standard has fallen and these new people treat your car really roughly. As I was dropping off our car in the queue, they did a wheel spin with the car in front of ours to move it along. Of course, the owner of that car would never be aware of that and it was their attitude that was appalling. nbridgeman1
Has anyone used this recently? Was going to take my car here today as it's the most convenient, but mixed reviews have made me wary.If not here, does anyone have a recommendation for somewhere else nearby? Pickle
I used it the other day. It's OK, not brilliant - I had to do a bit of "finishing" when I got home (admittedly my car is my baby and I'm quite fussy!). Their attention to detail is lacking, but they do an ok job. Best I've used is on Evelina Rd, under the railway bridge - same price as Dulwich Blue, but they are meticulous about the finish. They have a loyalty card system, and you get a cup of tea/coffee while you wait.
