KidKruger
Good contest late Saturday night in USA.Golovkin v Limeux at MW.Both can end a fight quick but you have to say GGG is more consistent.KO rd7 to GGG. KidKruger
8th round TKO.21 KOs in a row, since 2008.GGG now holds WBA, WBC, IBF belts.Cotto / Canelo fight soon for WBC belt and neither will be drawn on whether they will ever fight him - like GGG doesn't exit at middleweight.Sham situation. Otta
Joe Calzaghe was never tempted by boxing comeback - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/wales/34862132New Calzaghe film out next week. Jeremy
No surprise there. He clearly had little love for the sport by the time he fought Hopkins and Jones. Jeremy
The Jones fight in particular was purely business (even though Jones almost ruined the party!) KidKruger
Now that's a result I would never have bet on happening. Must have been a very off day for Vlad.So does Fury face Wilder now / soon ? Otta
I honestly had a feeling Fury would do him. He's too unpredictable and I've always liked the fact he can switch to southpaw, which apparently totally thre Vlad. Not that I think Fury is particularly good. I hope we see him against Haye one day. Alan Medic
From what I heard Vlad has the option of a re-match. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4760-one-for-the-boxing-fans/page/48/#findComment-932027 Share on other sites
KidKruger
Yes there's a clause, which Vlad has said he will exercise.I'd still rate Vlad to beat Fury, who I'm just not convinced by (yet). Jah Lush
I had Fury to do Klitchko and he'll do him again if there's a rematch. Klitchko has fought too many patsies over the last decade and at 39 he isn't going to get any better. KidKruger
Given the performances of both boxers, Fury won, absolutely no doubt about that. But Vlad lost the fight more than Fury won it, IYKWIM.If there's a return, I think Vlad will throw more than a pathetic 19 punches a round and overall put on a better account of himself.Something to look forward to in 2016.Quillin v Jacobs is the fight next weekend. I wonder if the winner has the balls to fight (or even acknowledge the existence of) Golovkin. KidKruger
I read somewhere that UK has more world titles than the USA, I think followed by Japan. It's 'propa' world titles, not emeritus / silver / 'in waiting' (like the WBA does). If that's correct it's a testament to where UK is in Boxing right now, and well deserved too. Otta
Only just realised that Haye's comeback fight tomorrow night is on Dave, the free view channel. Bit of a result. Jeremy
Not for Haye it's not!!Anyway.. gut feeling is that by the time Haye works his way up to a title shot, he'll be too far past his peak. maxxi
I don't have any subscription tv channels so have missed a lot of the big fights and was interested to see how this turned out.I'm probably out of practice when it comes to judging these things but this Aussie being ranked 10th in the world was either a ridiculously optimistic (for him) rating or there really is a dearth of good fighters out there or - OR - he hung his chin out for Haye to smack. Jeremy
Boxing rankings are pretty mysterious. Each body has their own system, and the top 10 is usually completely different for each one. So you'd usually expect #10 in one body's rankings to probably be around the #40 mark overall.Nevertheless, I was still surprised at just how utterly hopeless he was. dbboy
Haye was brutal, the Aussie never stood a chance, the first big punch he took knocked him spark out. I have seen lots of fights but although extremely short (less than a round) Hayes punch strength was awesome. KidKruger
Haye's a big puncher everyone knows it.Pointless fight though. What was meant to be gained by this match-up ! Jeremy
Was really quite worried about the guy for a minute or two after the KO.He had no business being in that ring. Wasn't capable of defending himself. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4760-one-for-the-boxing-fans/page/48/#findComment-949431 Share on other sites
Otta
I was gobsmacked at how helpless the guy was in there. He had a genuinely decent record with lots of knockouts, I thought Haye would win but that it would go a few rounds.I think for Haye it was all about seeing how he felt in there.Has anyone seen the in ring showdown between Fury and Wilder? Looks like that fight is a step closer. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4760-one-for-the-boxing-fans/page/48/#findComment-949492 Share on other sites
KidKruger
I didn't know until today the opponent had been out for so long.Immediately after the contest on Dave channel (which mag have been a repeat last night as it was quite late) I switched off. This is exactly why mismatches are to be avoided / the guy has not got a history at world level like Haye so shame on the promoters for risking any boxer's health.
