becoming a Hamed or Eubank figure.

Indeed, although I have to say that I always loved Eubank. He was more of a comedy panto villan type, but could be so mean in the ring (until the whole Watson thing).

Hamed took it a step further, and crossed the line from panto villan, to cocky little scrote who needed a slap. But he was so exciting with his unique style (until Barrera showed that you just had to keep going around in a circle the wrong way, and Hamed couldn't touch you).

Khan is very good, and I'm sure he's a nice lad, but he doesn't come across well, making stupid "big man" comments, which just make him sound like a knob...

,,, Plus there's that stupid Bolton accent!

WHO WINS?

Fury or Chisora and why ?

I think it's genuine 50/50, I rate Chisora's boxing over Fury's but Fury's got 8 inches in height advantage and probably same in reach, Fury's extra stone in weight shouldn't make too much difference, except maybe in clinches.

Both have 14-0 records. Still novices in the scheme of things really.

I guess Chisora wins but only because he was lined-up for Klits and Fury wasn't (and because Fury concedes he's 'not ready yet').

BTW: Dereck Chisora v Tyson Fury is on Channel 5 tomorrow at (I think) 10pm, not sure if there's a card before 10pm that will be televised.

Looks like Fury was the man on the night, Chisora was reduced to barging his way in to get close and let go with wild looping shots to reach Fury's chin. Fury was wobbled, maybe a couple of times, but he kept his head and even seemed to be having a bit of a laugh with friends at ringside towards the end of the fight.

Who knew Fury was going to be so light, and relatively quick? Chisora looked like a fat old man in comparison and when he did connect it was at the end of the arc of the punch with little power left in it or was on Fury's shoulder or back. If Fury could develop some power in those punches (seems to have very slim levers) he could shake things up a little. Chisora was too heavy and knackered too quickly.

[great to see a fight on terrestrial tv though].

just a word on two boxers I've been posting about previously and how they're faring.

Firstly Robert Helenius, Finnish (I think), he beat Liakhovich a couple of weeks ago, I think that's his 3rd ex-world champ in a row. He's coming along very nicely, quite fast, very strong, needs to work on his defence a bit.

He'll be getting more profile now and they may line him up with Povetkin, who's regarded as a 'champ in the making', as is RH.

The other is Denis Lebedev, he's got one loss on his record, to Marco Huck, must be one ofthe most bent decisions ever made at a boxing match. If you watched the fight you'd realise. The post-fight press conference must have been really embarrassing for Huck, he knows he lost and so did everyone in that room. Proof that German contests are biased. Anyway, Lebedev is being lined-up for James Toney who, though around 43, is still a force to be reckoned with (though he was silly trying to take on the MMA guys). Toney regards this fight, if it happens, as a stepping stone to a Cruserweight title fight. I like Lebedev's good honest style, he KO'd Maccarinelli if I remember correctly.

Huck should man-up and give Lebedev a re-match.

That's it really, just fancied a boxing rant about two fighters I been following a while.

Watched the contest fine on channel 5, no blank bits.

They didn't have much footage to pad out the remaining time for the broadcast so they showed the entire fight again, did you not see that ?

Fury has some OK moves, would like to see him v Helenius, thing is, Fury is still very hittable he sometimes forgets he's hanging his chin out there because he gets comfy with being out of reach because of his size.

Chisora and Fritha have both proved on consecutive outings that Fury can be hit and both have had him almost out on his feet. Any worthy boxer like Povetkin, Helenius etc would have taken note of this.

Two guys I'd like to see Fury fight are Alex Leapai and Travis 'Freight Train' Walker (separately, of course). Check out the contest between these two guys on YouTube some time ago and imagine how/if Fury would handle attacks of such ferocity.

They then showed a couple of the undercard contests, of particular note was a Sheffield boxer from I think the Ingle gym who dispatched his opponent in R1 with first a right cross and later two devastating lefts to the body, reminds one of a young Prince Naseem Hamed. One to watch.

Yes i did but by then the result was known and so the point of watching live was lost - apparently a million people suffered the same fate and Five apologised and said it was someone else's fault.

I agree re Tyson - he never looked really crisp, just kind of loose like he was sparring - until he got hurt. Surprised ref stopped it though.

There's obviously TWO camps on this.

You're either pro because 'its the hurt game', or you're against because it was ungentlemanly/not ethical.

If you take the action and isolate it then IMO it's uncool to step on the manners which are understood in the squared circle.

However, Mayweather was giving Ortiz fits, Ortiz couldn't handle that he wasn't able to pin Floyd down, so he did a blatant head-butt out of frustration.

After a move like that I think reasoning/debate over the KO has to consider what had just happend to MW. He'd just been head-butted for chrissakes, by a fighter who KOs almost everyone he fights (using his fists though !).

A dangerous man who if he catches you squarely can very likely switch you off for the evening. The guy butts you, then comes to you 3x times for you to accept his apology, the 3rd time he looks away for half a second, something to do with the ref. Ortiz has lost my respect and now he's looking away, out of his fighting stance, Yeah KO him.

He should have protected himself and to have butted like that and then stand so close to MW thinking it's like being round his Mum's for tea, was seriously foolish.

Ortiz was out of line. Attacking Mayweather for the KO is a distraction. People love to hate him, whatever MW had done, however he'd won the fight, he'd be slated for it.

After the first punch, a left hook, it appears Ortiz is looking at the ref.

His head may be pointed in the ref's direction but I think that's because his head had just been punched in that direction by the hook. Ortiz's hands were down, he probably was already stunned and clearly didn't see the follow-up punch that closed the show. Even if he'd seen it, I don't think he was in a fit state to do anything about it.

That first hook is what KO'd Hatton.

Kell Brook?s World title eliminator with Rafal Jackiewicz in Sheffield on Saturday night is a complete sell-out.

I think it's being shown on Sky Sports 1 on Saturday, I'm hoping CPT will screen it from around 9pm (or whenever it starts).

I believe he's from the same gym as Naseem Hamed was (Ingle ?). His style is certainly unorthodox and puts a lot of opponents off I expect.

Kell's fighting an ex-European champion, a guy who's never been stopped in 48 fights, so a tough cookie.

It'll be a good test. Kell want's world honours next but I think he should work on opponents just knocking on that door, to consolidate his experience, before stepping-up to the big boys. If he can get past Jackiewicz.
