Stich and Bitch East Dulwich is in need of a boost!

We have been running now for over 4 years now and would love some new blood. We are not especially accomplished knitters for the most part so don't feel intimidated! We are open to all and meet every fortnight in the East Dulwich Tavern (though we are currently considering a new venue) for knitting/crochet, drinks and chat.

Hi, I am another member of the StitchED and BitchED group. As Ellie mentioned in her original post, we are looking for a new venue. The EDT is a great pub but once they days shorten its just too dimly lit to be able to see what we're doing (and also a bit to footbally to hear what we're saying too). So next meet on the 5th of August we'll try out The Patch and the following meet (the 19th) we'll go to The Rose over on Forest Hill Road. We'll find the perfect place yet! Hope to see some new faces next week!

Hi there,

I run a charity called the Nabasa Trust we work with orphaned and vulnerable children in Uganda, I was given your name by Sa friend of mine, I was wondering if you might all like to club together to make something we can then auction at our next charity event.

Kind regards

Joanna Smith

Hi! I'm not part of the stitched and bitched group but I have a small business and would be happy to donate something for the auction.

Have a look at http://www.facebook.com/raglanroaddesigns to see what you think. It's all handmade homeware, great for gifts, etc so there should be something suitable!

So we went to The Rose last week, its a beautiful pub, the music is low enough to talk easily, they greeted us (having seen this thread they were expecting us) and brought us extra lights! What a welcome!

We're aware its kind of out of the way over there but we loved it and want to go back next week. Its worth the trek.

Hope to see you and your yarn there next Tuesday (the 2nd) at or about 7:30.

Hi Ellie has the blanket, she came along to a meet up and you gave her the blanket to work on. Her husbands job changed so she can no longer come along as he works tues evenings now. I did pm Ellie or rachel on fb asking if there was somewhere/one in dulwich where she could drop it off so someone else could carry on working on it but didn't get a reply. If any of you work locally send me a pm and let me know where she can drop it into. Leanne

This Tuesday we will be hosting a yarn/book/project swap event at the rose pub on forest hill road from 7.30pm onwards. This is a great chance to meet new people, get some inspiration and get crafty! Bring along unwanted yarn etc to swap or just come along for a drink!

Meeting tonight with a change of venue, we'll be at The Cherry Tree, near the station. As almost perfect as The Rose was, some are finding it's location a tad difficult.

Tonight we're going to have a go at knitting/crochetig/whenallthatfailsjustwrapping around ping pong balls to make baubles. Not because it's Christmas, because it's October and not the Christmas season for some time yet, but because some of us are slow workers and if it turns out to be a good thing to do we'll need some time to make a set before it actually is Christmas. I'm bringing the balls, and a few print outs from pinterest but bring yarn and needles/hooks/whatever. See you there from 7:30. (Daddy babysitter wont be available till a bit later so I'll be the one with a small boy 'helping'.)

Hi Mishe, we meet every second Tuesday at the moment at a different pub. We will meet next time on the 11th from 7:30 at The Cherry Tree, which is very near the station.

We've been tripping around trying out different places to meet and have decided, for now, that we quite like trying new places so we're not settling down with a permanent meeting place for now. We'd love to meet you, and your yarn!

Thanks for the note on the next meetup. I have it down on my calendar for next Tuesday. At the moment I am knitting a poncho with Rowan's Felted Tweed. It's my first time knitting with the Felted Tweed and so far, I'm enjoying it. Hopefully I can finish it up this week and will cast on for another project. Look forward to meeting you and the group next week. Cheers!

Hello ladies. This is Michele. It was wonderful meeting all of you who were there last week for the SnB. I am in the midst of doing a major decluttering purge to free up space in our teensy weensy flat and have some old yarn that I want to find a good home for. Most of the yarn is summer weight that I have picked up during my travels. The fibers are probably cotton, silk, bamboo, etc. I can't remember anymore...Most are smooth, slippery and would probably make good things for summer and spring (drapey tops, skirts, etc). I suppose one could crochet them into things as well, but I bought them intending to knit summer tops, which I just never got around to doing. If anyone is interested, please let me know and I can bring it to our next meeting on Tues night. If no one is interested, then I will donate them to Oxfam.

Hi Michelle,

I'm looking for a few balls of colored yarn (any texture/fiber OK) to make some pom pom holiday decorations. If you'd be happy with some of your yarn turning into pom poms, I could pick up as soon as is convenient, including from your Tuesday night meeting (tomorrow?). Sadly, I'm not a member of SnB as can't knit :( !!

Ooh yes please, I'm like a vulture over an available yarn stash! Am still doing little, fundraisy type things so very interested in a little extra yarn.

See you tomorrow!

Green Gramaphone, we can teach you to knit if you like, it's not hard!

    • Hi folks, I'm hoping it's nothing, but we've noticed a man drive up outside our house in a white Jaguar XE 2.0 (example pic below), get out, take some photos of the building work with his phone, and then drive off. We've seen him do this a couple of times over the last couple of months.  Reg BP16 UAJ. Is it anything to be concerned about? I'm hoping it's just an architect or someone interested in the design and building work...
    • So glad you found this poor little thing....  I heard that so many people tried to catch it as it was running in the road.  Well done!
    • As a one off thing, I'd 100% recommend going to Alexander Does Supper, if you like food! It's up at Dulwich Art School, and you do some life drawing, have an amazing three course meal, and then watch some burlesque! I met some great people from the local area, and it was something different that I would never have done otherwise. https://www.instagram.com/alexanderdoessupper https://www.alexanderdoessupper.com
    • No, signs of sense and scrutiny of "leaders" not knowing the impact of what they have done, so much so that every citizen in the UK will suffer financially as a result of an incompetent, incoherent, unhinged Govt that's impact is effecting every citizen in the UK. Where things were being turned around by the last lot, this lot has already compromised all that work in its first 120 days in power. You may not like it but that's the truth.  We are never going to agree and actually Reeves, Rayner and Starmer need to go, like yesterday.
