3am - Drilling on Peckham Rye

It's 3am and I've just been woken by pneumatic drilling taking place somewhere on Peckham Rye (the road) - what the heck is going on???

Not sure...but they switched the power off to the local area. Maybe it was a fracking exercise - a lot of shale gas under the rye...

Well, they have dug up around the bus stop outside Aura Court, and there is a notice saying it's emergency electric work...

What's annoying is there is no-one working on it today.... better not wait til tonight to start drilling again!

I remember the same thing with both water and gas emergency works in my road last year. The workers said that their intial priority is to make it safe but then that sometimes the investigation work is easier to do overnight when there is less fluctuation of demand so they can trace things more easily. Hope you sleep better tonight though!
