To be completely serious for a minute, I do find both sides of this arguement a bit worrying. This thread is/was hilarious, I like *bob*'s style. However, too many people are too quick to dismiss and almost laugh at this stuff. I'm not saying it's all true, just as I'm not saying there is a God (I wish I could make my mind up on that one), but I absolutely hate people being smug and superior towards people of religious belief, so I guess I should feel the same here (although I find it hard to get so wound up about this).

Equally however, MW74's reaction does nothing to help her cause. If you believe, fair enough, but don't do that whole "well we're right, and we feel sorry for you unenlightened people who don't" thing, because it is every bit as bad as those who dismiss you willynilly (sp? in fact is it even a word?).

Come on people, live and let live, and all that.

Broadly in agreement with your point Keef, but where does this thinking go

Is "Dr" Gillian McKeith harmless and we should just live and let live? I say no to her and her "qualifications" and if that makes me smug then so be it - she is dangerous

Is not the only response to *bob*s post "well that's satirical and funny" - when he satirises anything else we just recognise it for what it is but when it's about... this stuff... some people go apeshit? That sends a warning signal to me

Interesting comment that home industry is to be encouraged in these straitened times.

With a teapot up the arse and Bob's 'almighty cynic cannon' perhaps it's the, ahem, home movie industry that we ought to be looking at. Recession or no there'll always be a market...

Home industry should always be encouraged.

Maybe there will always be a market for that stuff for you Jamma.::o

I do agree roughly with Seanmac about Gillian though, not sure about how she is being dangerous though. At least she is promoting healthy eating.

Keef - I (sometimes) used to but I think I wasn't taking on that one - I'm getting better!

Karter - as for dangerous Gillster:to quote Ben Goldacre

"She talks endlessly about chlorophyll, for example: how it's "high in oxygen" and will "oxygenate your blood" - but chlorophyll will only make oxygen in the presence of light. It's dark in your intestines, and even if you stuck a searchlight up your bum to prove a point, you probably wouldn't absorb much oxygen in there, because you don't have gills in your gut. In fact, neither do fish. In fact, forgive me, but I don't think you really want oxygen up there, because methane fart gas mixed with oxygen is a potentially explosive combination."

In fact, to echo some of the sort of responses this thread has elicited:

"One window into her world is the extraordinary way she responds to criticism: with legal threats and blatantly, outrageously misleading statements, emitted with such regularity that it's reasonable to assume she will do the same thing with this current kerfuffle over her use of the title "doctor". "

actually, treat yourself to the whole article

here

or better still, the whole thing here

Is she promoting healthy eating? Cool she seems to get paid lots to do that so here is my go "eat more fruit and veg, drink less alcohol. Move around a bit more"

Now, where's my cheque??

now there is me thinking she just downloaded her qualification off the internet.:-S . I found this lady to be stuck up her own ar$e ( Jamma calm down). Eating your greens and getting chlorophyll should not be bad for you though.

Seanmac, cheque is in the post.

To go back to an earlier point, I know someone who takes this stuff very seriously, and has made some life-changing decisions based on it (relationships, career). The fact that the advice she received has left her right up sh*t creek now really really pisses me off.

I do believe there might be more things in heaven and earth horatio, but I haven't seen any evidence so far - can anyone supply me with any or does it come down simply to faith? Is a genuine request, am happy to be convinced that the vulnerable and needy aren't being conned out of their hard earned cash.

As for McKeith, she can shove her spirolina enema up her arse (perhaps with aforementioned teapot) and come back to me when she can show any physical evidence that her lifestyle affords health or life-affirming joy as opposed to turning you into a GHD-ed extra from the Thriller video.

That's why people like me tend to get on a not of a high horse about these things - if it was taken as a bit of fun we'd all be laughing. But some people take these things very, nay dangerously, seriously.. and get VERY upset and cross should anybody diss it in any way

I get hot and upset about the use of the word Diss.

Horrible word and a very dull town in Norfolk to boot.

And with all respect due to Rosie H and her pal, I can't help feeling someone gets what they deserve if they make important life decisions based on the way tea leaves settle in their teacup.

Seriously, don't they know tea doesn't work and that they should cast stones over freshly killed goat entrails?!?!

Schoolboy error!

    • Yes, presumably, in terms of using some of the space for non Post Office things, as other sub post offices do. But as a sub office I doubt that they will be able to cherry pick what Post Office services they offer. My understanding is that there are only a few things which Crown offices presently do but sub offices don't (like passports).
    • I bought mine online couple of years ago from arnold Clark. They had send me few videos and I think you have at least 1 year warranty. It was serviced by them as well for few years . When I went for service here the mechanic told me that the car is in a great shape with lots new parts and a very good buy.  It was a very strange experience as it was brought from Scotland and it was click and collect type of purchase. Never had I thought I would be buying a second hand car like that. You pay small holding fee I think I paid something like 50-100£ for transport to London and you have few locations to choose from.
    • It was a better world where 15 year olds could get away with buying alcohol in pubs.  They can still get hold of the stuff but better drinking in a pub with some adult supervision IE bar staff than in the park after dark
    • Does anyone know of a trusted local conveyancing lawyer they'd recommend? Thanks!
