Alarms are meant to ring for only 20 minutes before going silent (with a flashing light tell-tale if one's fitted). If there is something which continually sets off the alarm (i.e. an animal setting off the infra-red, or even - and I've known this happen - a helium filled balloon moving around through convection currents) the alarm may re-start - but it should not be continuous.

With the recent break ins around the area, I am sure the people who's alarm it is must be super chuffed about you drawing attention to their house on a public forum.

Whilst it may have been an attempt to be kind and let them know there is a problem, I hope you haven't made the problem worse by putting their address in the title of the thread.

    • as a retail worker I was once a member of USDAW I found they only have teeth when the majority of employees in a company are members. I remember in a former job I needed their help and found them somewhat flaky and therefore never re-enrolled in my next job. even if a union gets involved with something like working temparature it could take months to get a resolution..and then it'll be spring.
    • This afternoon our bike, a grey Condor, was stolen outside Dulwich library (the big one). If you come across it pls let me know.  There is no CCTV, as Historic England won’t allow them to put up Cameras onto the building and staff told us that it happens almost once a month! So beware of parking any bike there in Future!
    • It's back on now, earlier than forecast,  hooray for the electricity workers out in the cold and dark!
