Selling paintings online - best websites?

Are there any artists out there who sell their work via the internet? A few people have suggested I try selling some of my paintings online. I currently sell direct from exhibitions or commissions but would be interested to hear if anyone can recommend the best websites to try. I'd probably start off with my lower priced landscapes and still life florals which are mixed media - some on canvas, some unmounted on paper. I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who has had experience (good or bad) in this.

I've put some stuff on eBay recently but I think that's only best when people know your stuff (ie. through friends) and just use the site as a mechanism to purchase.
