Woolies has been hopelessly out of date for over a decade now.

It even looked out of date 20+ years ago when i was sweet-stealing teen.

Out of date electricals in faded boxes, a wallful of irrelevant music CDs, aisles of kitchen tat.. Everything you can find everywhere else, only a poorer selection and slightly more expensive.

It had to go.

Actually, I can sort of see were he is coming from. I seem to remember Woolies being on the verge of bankruptcy about 20 years or more - and they just seemed to re-vamp themselves etc.,

That was back in the days when they sold seemingly EVERYTHING. I seem to remember reading that they did an audit and found something like 4 miles of green sewing cotton.

I used to work there in the 80s. Hated the place and rarely ever go in, pretty much like everyone else it seems.

It was decline then, gradually thinning its what it sells, until it resembled every other Pound Shop in the street.

It just felt like they didn't really care or any enthusiasm for what they did.

The only thing I liked is looking through the cheap dvds to pick up bargins like Xanadu for a couple of pounds.

    • Southwark is closing youth centres day centres they’re not going to spend millions on opening a new community space. What that area needs is a good supermarket. The nearest one is Sainsbury’s in Forest Hill. someone else may well know of the mechanism where a council can make a compulsory purchase. So the supermarket underneath with three or four stories of social housing long top built in the same style as the Dulwich estate.Next door.
    • I'd also like to recommend Paul! His colleague Damien did a super quick and neat job sorting out a kitchen socket for us which had stopped working. Paul is very easy to communicate with and it's great to know there is a reliable and skilled electrician in the local area. His number is 07802627967
    • hi  Anyone going through this therapy (Dab & Tram)?   Fancy setting up a support group to compare experiences?
    • We are a local Country Rock group, looking for a male singer to join us. Current line-up is drums, bass, two guitars and a female singer. We are looking for a male singer to complete the line-up.  We mostly play Country Rock and Country covers, gigging locally, for fun. We occasionally get paid, but there's probably not going to be a lot of money in it! We rehearse most weeks and have our own rehearsal space in East Dulwich. To give you an idea of the sort of music, we do songs by The Eagles, Luke Combs, Charlie Crockett, Sheryl Crow, Nikki Lane, Tom Petty, etc. If you are interested in getting involved, please reply to this post, or phone or text Matt on 07944 673185.
