Lynne
So, if I understand all this, it's illegal to lend your Oyster card to grandchildren/visitors etc? And you can't use legal tender ( cash - no-one ever has change for a cow and I've run out of calves)I'd like to see this all challenged in the courts Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/46375-buses-not-accepting-cash/page/4/#findComment-764111 Share on other sites

Bic Basher
Oyster Cards can be shared if they only have PAYG on them.If the card has a discount photocard or railcard added, or a season pass, then they can't be shared. JohnL
When you pay by debit card and the inspector gets on - I assume the debit card chip now has additional technology to flash the inspectors tester green. Loz
Nope - the ticket system on the bus prints out a list of the last 4 digits plus expiry date of all cards processed. The inspector will check your card against that list. Bic Basher
Contactless will be accepted on TfL rail services (London Overground, Tube, DLR and Tramlink) from September 16th.Apparently it should also be accepted on National Rail services (Southern/Southeastern) but can't find confirmation of this. antantant
I've always thought it a complete tfl con that buses don't contribute to the daily oyster cap. It looks like this is changing for Sept 16 which is good Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/46375-buses-not-accepting-cash/page/4/#findComment-769419 Share on other sites
Loz
For Oystercards they do antantant and have done for quite a while. There are two different caps, though - one for all transport and one for buses only. Nigello
Regards the two caps: if I reach a bus cap then add a Tube journey or two, does the daily "all public transport" cap kick in, or does the bus cap get "undone" ready for other journeys that might take it up to the former cap I mentioned. (It could just be that I am misunderstanding the system.)
