KidKruger
Hold on. On a packed commuter train where you see the same faces every day there's every chance of embarrassing oneself, so easy on the lecture ! Salsaboy
Alas she wasn't on the train yesterday and I'm back to driving from now on, so that's the end of that. Ho hum. Jeremy
Get back on that train... just for one day... and do what has to be done.Strike up a pleasant conversation - think of 3 or 4 possible subjects in advance which are fairly natrual, trivial and non-creepy. Don't stare at anything you're not supposed to stare at, or introduce yourself as 'salsaboy'. Slip her a business card - no public humiliation that way if she's not interested.Never getting a call back is still 10 times better than kicking yourself for doing nothing. Robert Poste's Child
Another possibility is that Salsaboy has now spoken to her and got her phone number (or the spark of love went out the instant she opened her mouth - been there myself, goodness knows) but either way doesn't fancy sharing it with an audience. If this is the case, I apologise for my own helpful advice, which clearly never worked for me either. Salsaboy
Unfortunately due to the nature of my job I won't be getting that particular train again, so the chances of me getting the chance to say 'Hi' are zero. Should have done something sooner. You live and learn. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/46352-i-wish-i/page/2/#findComment-761949 Share on other sites
Alan Medic
Cop out. Get the train anyway, bring flowers and introduce yourself after she gets off. Less pressure than doing it on the train. Robert Poste's Child
Salsaboy, if it's not your usual route, there's less at stake if it goes wrong. If it were me I'd be tempted to have a 'dentist appointment' early next week and give it a try. Or if you don't want to live in a Richard Curtis movie, you could put a message in that section in the Metro. You haven't even got the excuse of seeing the same people again any more.Say hello.Having said that if you're not prepared to risk a few seconds of potential embarrassment then sounds like she's not worth it to you so crack on and don't waste everyone's time again ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/46352-i-wish-i/page/2/#findComment-762019 Share on other sites
maxxi
It's gone too far now. Let it go. Then you'll always have a wonderful "what might have been" fantasy to look back on instead of living in a "Why did i ever say 'hello'...?" reality when she turns out to have feet of clay. emc
The same thing has happened to me over the last few years - I.e someone giving me a lovely smile or tried to make small talk, but I've just clammed up or looked away. So stupid and I berate myself afterwards, but it's embarrassment I guess.... Robert Poste's Child
Or you blurt something so inane it wouldn't be out of place on the Inbetweeners, then get a forced smile stuck on your face because all potential conversation is now dead. If it wasn't for alcohol the English would have died out by now.
