I am truly sorry to cause you such consternation Jeremy, but on this occasion it was probably too late for me to have time to buy a ticket and catch the last train :)

Today's evening standard has an article about the New Routemasters and the two designs that won first prize... sadly they only won a prize and it is not 100% certain that they will be the final design

However maybe in 3 years time (I know it will flash by like a trip on a No 40) we will end up with decent hybrid busses and conductors again.

When we used to have Routemasters and Nightbuses, I was actually on a night bus that did just that... two stops, Elephant and Castle to let one passenger of and Dulwich Library to let the rest of the shaken and suddenly sober ones off...

Quite quite scary but the fastest bus ride from London I have ever been on...

  • 4 weeks later...

Is it just me, or do the busses seem much better this year so far...

up to Christmas i often used to have to watch a couple of full busses fly past - but since the new year, they seem more frequent and much easier to get on. (i get on opposite Lucas)

    • Silly question, but have you reported this elsewhere as well as on here? Eg passport office, banks (if there are bank cards), police? Because if someone is carrying around their passport (assuming it's theirs) they must be pretty devastated if they have lost it, and it's fairly unlikely they will see this post, though fingers crossed.
    • * Big, sick & tired sigh * Ok, so here is this year's small selection of Gala litter that has been left behind. I have to emphasise, it is only a small part of what is still there, collected on Tuesday from a relatively small area in the south of the ex-site. I also have to emphasise this only took about an hour of slow wandering, using only my eyes & hands - no specialist equipment, and I'm not a paid employee of a specialist waste management company. And to confirm, this is after "The site was checked at the end of GALA’s tenancy and found to be clear of event-related litter" by the Council / Parks Dept. There's 488 items there, many of which would be potentially hazardous to children, pets & wildlife. Not least the small bag in the bottom left corner, still containing a suspicious white substance. I'm hoping to pass this on to the police for testing, ensuring it is recorded for the purposes of next year's licence consideration.  Please - before anyone posts any comments defending this, denying it is festival related, insulting me, whatever - just go and have a close look yourself, particularly where the tents, stages & toilets were sited. It's obviously from the festival, and there's still loads of it there, all over our park. It is literally being trashed, year after year, despite repeated assurances from the organisers.  I'm sick of it, it's just so depressing.
    • Ah, ok. I only glanced at it,  and obviously didn't properly read even the tiny bit I glanced at 🤣 Sorry!
    • Is this to be a live in carer? if so you will need to establish hours of work, daily 'time off'. If full time live in carer you will need to employ another carer as relief. One of my clients had a live in carer plus 2 others     rota was carer A main carer - had 3/4 hours off each day when carer B took over. Carer A had one week off in 4 when carer B moved in and did same hours as carer A, but carer C came daily to cover breaks, then it went back to normal routine. Need to have Moving and Handling training and certification. Also if needing to use hoist will need training  and depending on hoist may need 2 people.
