Although Vanguard Court isn't East dulwich central it is an amazing collection of artists and craft studios. There is a planning request in for the row of low-lying studios to be demolished and replaced with part work, part residential buildings. This plan will drive drive out the craftspeople and mean the loss of the yard as the creative community as it stands as a place for creative Makers.(Vanguard court is one of the few remaining spaces for creative makers - as opposed to fine artists.)I wonder if any Forumites might be in a position to comment, as local residents knowing the activities carried out in the yard, and aware of the positive impact and the valuable contribution the craftspeople make to the community, as artists, craftsmen, makers, employers, trainers, educators. I have a reminder everyday with a wonderful stained glass front door made in Vanguard Court! Please if you can, write with your objections to:

planning.consultation@southwark.gov.uk. - The end date for objections is July 5th.

    • There are moves to place Thames Water into a SAR (Special Administration Regime) effectively renationalising it and wiping out its debt.  But then what ?  There is also rumours of lookmg for a new owner, including a Chinese backed group that already owns Northumbrian water and UK power.  Is that a controversial move as it places another of our inferstructural assets in foreign hands?  Should it be renationalised and run as a not for profit government organisation, placing investment and improvements before  shareholders? This in itself would adversely impact pension funds who have invested in utilities.  Its fairly obvious that Thames Water needs rescuing or restructure but what is the optimum and correct path to take ?
