Recommended Posts

Are you between 7 and 11 years of age and want to be an author? Dulwich Books invites you to a taster session for one hour with well-known author and creative writing teacher, Sam Hepburn.

During the workshop we will be looking at the structure, content and vocabulary for writing a short story about a character who wakes up one morning to find themselves turning into a magical beast. Children will leave with a story plan which they can work on over the school holidays and submit for a competition which will be judged by Sam. Entries will also be showcased on the www.shoutaboutmagazine.com website.

Sam Hepburn read Modern Languages at Cambridge University before joining the BBC, where she was producer of factual programmes for over 25 years and was the Commissioner for the launch of BBC 4. Her latest novel is Chasing the Dark.

This event will take place on Thursday 3rd July, starting at 4pm it will run for an hour and will include hands-on exercises designed to encourage creative writing for children aged 7-11 years old.

    • If you can use it exclusively for yourself for 12 years it might become yours by default under squatters rights? Maybe whack a bench on it and plant some flowers and then a little hedge around the perimeter to keep people out? I'm not sure if any of this is legal but it might be fun finding out?
    • Hate to admit it but I'm a absolute sex machine🤩
    • Hello. Did you hear any further on this? Was there anyone at the council who was helpful to speak to? I am in a similar boat.
    • Dear all, Bit of a random ask but in such a supportive and accepting community, I thought I'd see if anyone had time to help 🙂 I'm conducting research for my MSc Psychology dissertation, using a brief anonymous survey to explore romantic and polyamorous relationships and how/if attitudes around this interact with factors such a family history and family making. The survey should take no longer than 10-15 mins and has been approved by the University of Roehampton. I'm hoping to circulate the survey widely enough that the data gathered is representational of the diversity in modern society across various aspects that constitutes personal identity. Some of the questions are of a personal nature and others could be considered a bit 'spicy', but just to reiterate, this is an anonymous survey.
