Zebedee Tring
I have my own Zebedee's Law of French: "If the menu is in French, there will be a sizeable mark up on the bill".Seen on a menu many years ago: "Mushroom omelette ?2.50. Champignon omelette ?3.00". Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/45715-all-things-french/#findComment-756574 Share on other sites

wee quinnie
Mon Petit Chou is great. The staff in there are lovely and their pastries are excellent. As is their coffee. cle
I prefer the dirty caff on Bellenden for that sort of thing, and Anderson for more poncey brunch brekkie. The pub's breakfast is ok too. DuncanW
That's the point of MPH surely. It's a bit of middle ground. I quite like it.The French House and Cave de Bruno are both very welcome additions though. I hope both businesses prosper and are around for a long time. Jeremy
I've yet to be convinced by the idea of a swinging-60s French themed cafe bar... maybe I'm just a grumpy old sod. Either way, it takes a lot of guts to start up your own business, and I hope it works out for them! PokerTime
Lot's of French people in ED, and Huguenots were amongst the earliest residents in the surrounding areas. Champion Hill and De Crespigny Park for example are the name of the estate that formerly stood there, owned by a Huguenot refugee of the family of Crespigny. His descendant Claude Champion de Crespigny entertained the Prince Regent there in 1804 and was made a baronet the following year. There are many roads locally whose names tell of a strong French invasion to 'these ere parts' going back centuries! Mick Mac
I love all things French, especially the food and wine, ok maybe just the food and wine, but just not sure of the reason for French businesses setting up here, there seem to be a disproportionate amount currently opening in ED or maybe it is happening across London? Its all good though. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/45715-all-things-french/#findComment-757001 Share on other sites
