Crown Joinery

Just a quick post to recommend Crown Joinery.

Alex at Crown built, fitted and painted a bespoke side door for us, as requested.

It is truly an excellent piece of work.

They are local, based on Tyrrell Road, and Alex is a real character as well as an expert at what he does.

We live close to their workshop, so this job can be viewed easily if you ask Alex

Just a quick note to also recommend Alex. He has just finished and fitted a set of new french doors for us, which we wanted to match as closely to an existing old set as possible.

He is a friendly guy and a perfectionist who is proud of his work. Probably not the fastest guy around as he seems to be busy, but always has time to talk to you at the workshop and we are pleased with the results at a very resonable price.

We had to replace the front door in our flat because it no longer met fire safety regs, and used Alex from Crown Joinery. We?re very happy with the final product ? a finely detailed hard wood door and frame, with smoke seals and glass side panel. Alex is an experienced old-school joiner ? a perfectionist who enjoys his work, and his quote was competitive. He?s a nice guy too and I trusted him. It did take a bit longer to make than we expected but he always kept us posted. I?m glad we chose him over one of the larger companies, who do great brochures but charge for it.

    • leave the window alone and put in some "secondary glazing" For sound proofing, you need as big an air gap as you can muster (in this image they should have used the whole windowsill) if you try your own DIY screen (with perspex & wood) you must seal it as far away from the window as you can and add baffles round the perimeter inside (eg. egg cartons) (or other sound proofing materials are availble online). The air gap is your baffle (buffer). Cheaper than replacing the window.
