http://www.nunheadbeatsthebounds.co.uk

Organized by Resonance 104.4FM's Nunhead American Radio with Lewis Schaffer - the only radio programme for Americans living in Nunhead - and The Relatively Good Radio Show.

Saturday, 5th July 2014 at 2PM

Meeting Place: Nunhead Green.

Ending at: 4PM Nunhead Green.

Join the Second Annual Nunhead Beats the Bounds on Saturday, 5th July 2014.

Last year, the ancient tradition of Beating the Bounds was reborn in Nunhead. Nunheaders came together to celebrate and mark the boundary of our village.

This year our parade will be even bigger and better. Starting 2pm at Nunhead Green. March from Nunhead Green to Queens Road, up to Ivydale Road to One Tree Hill and down Peckham Rye back to Nunhead Green.

Nunheaders young and old will pound the roads, trees and buildings with sticks. We will sing of Angels, William Blake, Queen Elizabeth, Dr. Harold Moody and the other icons of Nunhead. We will rejoice in our Nunhead!

Ending at 4pm back on Nunhead Green with music, refreshments and a free glass of Nunhead Whacker, an ale specifically brewed for this event.

Nunhead Beats the Bounds will define the shape of Nunhead for future generations, again.

The procession will be headed by Lewis Schaffer, host of Nunhead American Radio with Lewis Schaffer, and The Relatives, from The Relatively Good Radio Show, with representatives from community and religious organisations from the constituent areas of Nunhead: Nunhead Village, Olde Nunhead, Nunhead Rye and Nunhead Heights.

It will take approximately 2 hours to do the 4.5 miles, culminating in an 'Event of Nunhead Unity' with music, comedy and picnics on Nunhead Green. Nunhead Beats the Bounds will be inclusive, interfaith, multicultural yet very, very British. All brought to you by the Americans of Nunhead.

Please join us for Nunhead Beats the Bounds - A Community Walking Event.

With funding from Southwark Council's Sustainable Transport & Road Safety Fund.

And additional support from The Salvation Army of Nunhead, Burger Bear and The Old Nun's Head.

    • agreed Mal and it's not like this new govt is above criticism - there is plenty to worry about or think they are misguided on - but overall there is just about a sense of necessary correction, and that the specific criticism from some on here isn't really all that objective I get they are super unpopular - but anyone voting for ANY party at the last election and thinking a new govt of any hue would be able to turn on taps and make everyone happy given the state of everything was just not taking politics, governance or their own choices seriously enough
    • You could contact Council Adult Social Care Services by email as well. Usually recipient has to be in so they can be told code and shown how to access the keysafe. Are you under Southwark? In which case: 'You can contact Southwark adult social care by: Emailing [email protected] or calling 020 7525 3324 for adults with a physical or sensory disability or who are 65 or older'
    • What did the last lot do?  Cost of postage has gone up well above inflation for years.   This thread does feel like Labour bashing and in particular knocking the PM and Chancellor. You didn't see the Telegraph, Mail and Express knocking 14 years of incompetence by the last lot, in particular the unnecessary programme of austerity that led to the massive decline in public services, the silly idea to have a referendum on leaving the EU and the worst of the lot not borrowing to underpin growth when interest rates at an all time low. It feels like many of you have drunk in everything the aforementioned papers print.
    • " increasing costs, red tape and inflation" yet when Brexit did this people were told to stop remaining Governments are not run like household budgets "It's amazing that the government have been daft enough to pick a fight with farmers - Alastair Campbell commented that he did react with shock when it was announced in the budget as, he said, you don't start a fight with farmers."   And this sounds more like a protection racket than anything else
