Next EDF Drinks - Friday 5th Dec at The Wishing Well Inn

Recommended Posts

An "interesting" pub I thought - lots to observe! However one of the most fun Forum drinks I've been too - Can't believe that the local man singing Yogi Bear to the lovely Georgia "won" the Kareoke - Keef was robbed!

Maybe next time Strawbs and I might even make it to the mic for Living on A Prayer.... (hmmm - maybe not!)

Lovely to see everyone!

Apologies for my late arrival (11.45pm). What a scene though as I walked in. Four of the hardest guys I have ever seen. Someone sitting on the floor. Some 15 yr olds with wooly hats on and tracksuits. Ten completely plastered fourumites

And Keef and Jah Lush duetting Suspicious Minds.

Not too steady myself I almost knocked over a builders wife's red wine. Which had nothing left in it. But had to apologise profusely to avoid getting stabbed. Top night.

MrBen

Thank you for the apology you did seem a tad unsteady on your feet on entering the pub and seemed to head straight for Mrs Bob s drink which had at least 50 pence worth of wine left but I managed to save it with my lightnig fast reactions.

I would also like to point out that I am not nor have I ever been a builder and have also given up stabbing people in favour of the quick shooting.

Keef I along with most of the forumites voted for the Bear song purely on comedy value and to be fair to the singer at the end of the night he won 25 pounds for his effort's and was looking to share the money with Georgia but she had already gone, great night.

I hadn't expected to make it but bloody hell what a good night. One of the best. Really enjoyed this one. The Karoake which I'd never done before was a good laugh, Keef was awesome and Mac you should be ashamed of yourself for bottling out, the beer flowed and although I was pretty well juiced before I got there I'm pretty sure I behaved myself and didn't flirt as much as I usually do. Great to meet all the oldies and newbies too (Jumping Jack Flash, cor! What a stunner) And the bear song. Brilliant! Good old fashioned vulgarity at it's best. Thanks to the bar staff too. Lovely old fashioned boozer which I hadn't been too in a while.
I have been told i was quiet on friday but i loved every minute. I do wish i hadn t bottled it but there it is. . A bit weird we were called yuppies by some of the locals but several other locals were sound out. Nice to meet sharon h local as well as drinks first timers. I have been in there a few times lately and will be back.
Can't believe he won the money though, it should have been Keef's.

The guy from behind the bar came round to ask for our votes, and we just told him to stick our whole party down for the Yogi Bear song. One of his mates did come up to me later and say he'd voted for me though, bless him.

I didn't hear any of the yuppy comments, and found most of the locals to be really friendly. There was no confrontation that I saw all night. I absolutely love all the carpentry behing the bar too, proper proper old school pub! CPT still has it, but it's not taken care of, whereas this looked like it was regularly varnished and polished.

Shame for the wine drinkers about the Pino G (vastly over rated wine IMO), but they had decent beer and whiskey, so I was happy enough.

Brendan and Tillie, real shame you guys missed it, I was chatting to Annasfield who also missed it, and we were thinking of arranging another Friday down there sometime for anyone who fancies a few beers and a sing song!

By the way, who was the lovely Geordie lass newbi who made it to the bitter end and stumbled back towards Dulwich with the rest of us? Remember her saying her user name was Japanese, but other than that it is all very very hazy! Nice to meet you anyway!

This wishing well has always been a top pub. Not least because my wife used to work in it, and, it used to have a snooker table out the back that would only cost ?2 an hour. Happy hour all day (til 6) in those days with drinks being ?1 a pint!

    • That’s another big hike on the Sainsbury’s mini rolls! I spoke to one of the managers on the day of the anchovies price rise but all he could say was that his store doesn’t set the prices. Very vague and not helpful. i started this thread about price rises in  Sainsbury’s and it’s somehow being blamed on Brexit etc!
    • And the Sainsbury’s own brand chocolate mini rolls have gone from £1.15 to £1.40 overnight, so 22%-ish. I prefer them them to the Cadbury original because they have a lot more chocolate on them, presumably because they’re made in a less advanced factory. I would think that getting the Rizla thin coating of chocolate that Cadbury’s accountants demand onto a piece of sponge is quite a sophisticated operation. Discuss.
    • Another recommendation for Leon. He was able to come out to our electrical elergency within 24 hours of me contacting him. His communication was great and whilst he could not solve our problem, he was able to perform tests to identify this and did so quickly and efficiently. He charging  is very fair and his manner very pleasant. Both of these in contrast to some experiences I have had elsewhere.    happy to put my name to recommending Leon. His number is  07707 925039.
