Absolutely appalling service at Sorsi&Morsi italian restaurant

Hi,I'm sharing an awful experience at Sorsi&Morsi Italian restaurant on Lordship Lane in the hope that others won't have to go through a similar experience.

I ordered a takeaway by phone at 8.30pm on Friday night and was told to collect it in 15 - 20 mins. I arrived at the restaurant at 8.59 (yes, I did check my phone for the time)I stood at the counter waiting because I could see that they were very busy and seemed flustered and agitated. After a few minutes, I told them I was here to pick up a take away. The boy that served me was flippant and dismissive, they asked me to repeat what I had ordered as they hadn't bothered to take my name at point of ordering. he said he'd go and see if it was ready. just then a female customer came to the counter to complain about how long she had been waiting to be served (she said half an hour)

As soon as she turned her back, the staff began gesturing after her, their facial expressions were dismissive and tones mocking, with derisive sniggering. I don't speak Italian, but anybody with a crumb of intelligence can recognise negative tones, facial expression and hand gestures.

I waited a few more minutes before enquiring about my order. It was now ten past nine.

To cut a long story short, whilst I was waiting at the counter, another customer came up to complain, not once was I offered an explanation as to where my order was, let alone offered a seat or anything to compensate for the wait.

Please note, that I'm fine with having to wait a bit longer as long as I and my fellow customers are treated with courtesy and respect and kept informed.

I resent rudeness, indifference and shoddy service when I'm expected to pay for it.

After another unsatisfactory answer regarding my order, I told them not to bother and left. the time was now 9.20.

As I still wanted Italian food, I drove to Il Mirto on Melbourne grove. My experience there was the opposite to the other place. Il Mirto staff were friendly, attentive and efficient even though the restaurant was full. I ordered and drove away with a delicious meal 15 mins later.

The moral of this story is if you want a delicious Italian meal and good service, go to Il Mirto or any genuinely recommended restaurant. If you want poor service, indifference and probably rude comments if you complain; Sorsi&Morsi is the place for you.

Not sure why they told Gertie to collect. We had a leaftet through the door a while ago saying they now deliver, unless they've changed that again. We've only been there once, when it first opened & we too had a v long awkward wait. I thought they'd forgotten about us at one point & was quite relieved when our meal eventually turned up as I couldn't wait to get out of there. I found the lady behind the counter quite scary to be honest. They threw in some extra garlic bread or something for keeping us waiting. Unfortunately we didn't think much of the pizza or garlic bread & haven't had the urge to try them again. A shame really as we really did wanted it to work out.
830pm kettle on, chop up onions, garlic; throw into pan with oil and some herbs, add tomato; open bottle wine, pour glass, stir, 835pm pan on hob, add water and pasta; 843pm all ready, 9pm in front of tv full and with rest of wine...
