Grrrr, somebody has bent back my car's wing mirror, but towards the bonnet rather than towards the window.

I have tried to pull it back into position but I can't budge it.

I have googled, and it seems that with some cars the mirror will move both ways, but with other it won't and if you're not careful you can damage the door (and/or break off the mirror completely).

It's an old Nissan Micra. Does anybody happen to know what will happen if I use massive force on the mirror? Is it likely to break off?

For obvious reasons, I am concerned about driving the car without it. Thanks.

Try to check how the mirror is attached. It may be attached by a bolt at the point where the mirror pivots. In my experience an Alan Key might do the job. If you loosen the bolt it will allow the mirror to pivot more easily and you can bring it back to where it needs to be and re tighten the bolt.
