From BBC Travel news 06.55:

A2216 Lordship Lane East Dulwich, both ways between B219 Barry Road and Landells Road

A2216 London - A2216 Lordship Lane in East Dulwich closed in both directions between the B219 Barry Road junction and the Landells Road junction, because of a serious accident. Diversion in operation - for buses 40, 176 and 185.

When I left our house opposite Sainsbury's on Lordship this morning at 0600, there was a Met Blue Tent outside the roofers, a damaged motorcycle and signs of a major injury. By the time the family were up the traffic was flowing again and all was back to normal. Speed cameras are needed near the junction of Lordship and Barry Road, stating the obvious. It's like a racetrack.

Agreed! We live opposite the Sainsbury's too and it's extremely dangerous, people seem to fly down there!

I don't have the time or the inclination to do the research, but I'm pretty sure that I have read  that when people who had lived in a very run down area  were given  nice surroundings, they appreciated and looked after them.
