Otta
Bryan Adams is not without talent.I'm not a fan anymore than I'm a Springsteen fan, but you don't stay in the business that long without some talent. Jah Lush
I think you've just answered *Bob's* question about who'd make a good headliner. Not a fan myself though. Jeremy
Bryan Adams? No, surely that could never happen.Would The Pixies headlining the Pyramid stage have been out of the question? I mean if Kasabian can do it... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44993-glastonbury-festival/page/2/#findComment-760611 Share on other sites
Jah Lush
I meant Springsteen, obviously. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44993-glastonbury-festival/page/2/#findComment-760622 Share on other sites
Jah Lush
By the way did you watch The Pixies? I could only take about five minutes. Any charisma that they may have had walked out the door when Kim Deal left. CocoC
Dolly totally mimed, apart from the little song she made up about the mud, which she sang live. Never mind, good on her anyway. Jah Lush
Slight time delay may have made it appear so. Anyway, I was busy watching the World Cup while she was on. Otta
I watched her on iplayer afyer rehearsal kast night. I think it was time delay. What would be the point in miming a whole one hour set with no breaks? Seabag
No, Dolly didn't mime did sheOther bits of her may be fake, but she did sing or do that odd hushy voice thingActually, that bit was pretty weirdsville Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44993-glastonbury-festival/page/2/#findComment-760633 Share on other sites
*Bob*
It was a noble effort she made a few major lipsync gaffsSee approx 2.42 - on the word 'fire' after the pause.. oops.http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p021gnxt/glastonbury-2014-dolly-parton-on-the-pyramid-stage Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44993-glastonbury-festival/page/2/#findComment-760639 Share on other sites
Jeremy
She has previous with miming... or at least using sections of pre-recorded vocals in her show. I imagine it's not that uncommon. El Pibe
see also beeb impartiality, by failing to please all people you will inevitably annoy lots of people. headliner == established so already annoyed youth (unless ironic appreciation of ancient stalwart)music taste != myMusicTaste == piss of everybody else.the answer is obviously to just bloody well go to the conert of the band you like or a festival that caters for your taste.Green Man has an excellent line-up this year and hammerfest a terrible one...seewadidithere? Jah Lush
Hmmm... yes there is that EP. Fortunately, thanks to iplayer you can pick and choose the acts you want to see and those you don't. Bit like going to the different stages and tents whilst you're there. A win win situation? Otta
Aw that's a shame, I wanted to believe she'd been genuine. That and now Rolf. Bad day for legends. RE The Pixies, it's a similar story as the Springsteen one for me. Saw them a while back having never been a huge fan, and loved the gig. On the strength of that I downloaded a load of their stuff and really listened for a while. But with the exception of a few songs it just didn't grab me.Hadn't realised Kim Deal had left, she was the best thing about them.Think they could easily headline though. Seabag
Ah, now I see *Bob*Mind you, she looks like she's held together by surgical tape under 'that outfit'. So lip synching is probably standardI very disappointed tho Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44993-glastonbury-festival/page/2/#findComment-760668 Share on other sites
MrBen
I really enjoyed this years coverage and had a great weekend with home cooking, beers, world cup and Glastonbury.I also swore others were lip syncing but my mates there texted back saying it was the time delay....so glad it wasnt just me. Look at all girl rockers Haim - they sounded way too polished to be live - perhaps guitar parts but singing was def not live? ????
It seems like everytime I switch on Glastonbury for the last 3 years it's those 3 Californian girls being bleeding interviwed in the 'tree house' Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44993-glastonbury-festival/page/2/#findComment-760687 Share on other sites
StraferJack
Haim sound polished because it's the exact same set they've been doing for 3 yearsI'm with mrben. A great backdrop to a leisurely weekend. *Bob*
MrBen Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> I also swore others were lip syncing but my mates> there texted back saying it was the time> delay....so glad it wasnt just me. There's are sync issues with digital broadcast (time slip, forward and backward) - and of course more so with online and iplayer. Haim looked like this - loads of timeslip on that transmission - but sounded totally live to me. Wouldn't say they sounded, er, 'too polished'.Dolly's in the novelty slot, aged 162 with a Bo Selecta face, comedy breasts and the bum of a 12 year-old boy, so I think - all things considered - they thought 'what the hell' and let her do what she wanted, but if they started letting acts like Haim mime it'd all be over. I find it really irritating, having to constantly discuss whether they 'are' or 'not' - whenever anyone is on anything these days. It really spoils things. MrBen
But why is that irritating? The act of discussing it, yes. But surely its not too much to expect rising rock superstars to actually sing live. Otherwise its just a pretty face and Apple Mac fronting a song written by a bearded man in a cardigan?
