I had the wheels stolen from my bike which was locked behind my front wall last night between midnight and 7am. The bike can't be seen from the street, so someone must have come into the garden to find it. Looks like there's a sweep of front gardens going on at the moment, with the recent horticultural thefts reported.

I deliberately bought a crappy second hand bike so that it wouldn't be attractive to thieves, but looks like it wasn't crappy enough.

I've now got to spend time and money getting the wheels replaced. Very depressing.

Happy to be more specific. I'm on Fellbrigg Rd.

Snowy - thanks for the kind offer. I don't have much of a clue about wheel sizes, and I would normally look at the old wheels to check the size, but they've been nicked. Hopefully wheels are fairly interchangeable, my bike's an old Specialized hybrid. If you drop me a pm I'll happily pick them up.

Had my motobike cover (?60 worth) pinched, was tucked behind the bins. On another thread there is a debate about letting people take stuff from bins - your front garden is private and no one should be(except bin men, postman) anywhere near your front door.

Yeknomyeknom, it's not your fault that someone piches your stuff, OK it's ill advised to leave stuff unattended but you shouldn't blame yourself, it's the fault of the thief.
