Went to see last night with MrClive3300, was slightly nervous that I wasnt going to love it because it was supposedly too action. However I thought it was great and how hot is Olga? My only comment was that i was feeling a bit car sick with some of the jerky filming, but apparently thats all part of the film according to husbie

I really enjoyed the new Bourne film, it does what it says on the tin; the names Bourne, James Bourne.

It has lost some of the classic charm, but then catching the dreadful Die Another Day the other day, it's not a wholly bad thing.

Saw it last night - lots of action but the story line is impossible to follow. In one sequence Bond flies to Austria, spies on some people, has a few fights, kills the bodyguard to the Prime Minister's key advisor and is next seen driving a motor launch toward an Italian villa set on the coast somewhere. No explanations.

I think it was about a nasty secretive organisation called Quantum (SMERSH for 21st century?) who were down to corner the South American water market. A plot was foiled, JB managed to avenge the death of Vespa, masses of car chases, gun fights, explosions but low on logic - there was no neat ending and so many loose ends you could have woven a new hairpiece for Sean Connery.

You mean he got the girl and killed the villain? Talk about spoilers, MM. How inconsiderate.

I saw it last night night and despite my low expectations, I actually quite enjoyed it. I thought the plot was fairly linear, but the scenes did jump around quite a bit. I didn't find it particularly hard to follow though. It's lost some of the original charm of the older films, but the action scenes were superb, if a little over-engineered at times. Not the best Bond, but definitely worth seeing on the big screen.

How many placement advertisements did everyone count? I'm sure I'm missing several, but Sony Ericsson, Aston Martin (obviously), Ford Ka, Virgin Atlantic, Redbull.....

Placement has been a feature for a little while, they don't come more blatant than the tank through the Heineken lorry in Goldeneye.

Reminds me of the shootout in Lethal Weapon II to the tune of Bonnie Tyler's 'I need a hero' there's actually a momentary close-up of a bottle of Hero aftershave as it gets hit by a bullet. Shocking or genius, you decide.

Product placement has always been a part of the Bond novels and films, but I think it has certainly become more noticable in recent films. I went last night and enjoyed it, but I agree with EDOldie, that Casino Royale was a very tough act to follow. Well worth a watch in the cinema Bon3yard, I implore you not to wait for the DVD! Certainly a much better film that any of the Bourne films in my opinion.

Stop it. My hand shook as I clicked on this thread. I thought Daniel Craig had resigned. First David Tennant and now DC. We've barely seen his abs and, poof, gone already. I had a tear in my eye. Please choose your thread names with more care in future Mrs Clive.

Going for a sit down.

Sorry Giggirl - have just re-read the title and agree it would be shocking as we have really not seen must of his abs. Sadly as well in the new film, there's not a trunk scene in sight. Agree with the product placement comments, very gratutious virgin atlantic advertising... also, cant remember (pregnant brain) if it was in QofS or Goldeneye where a car drove through all the perrier bottles on a truck - what was funny about that was they were in a really really rundown area not likely to selling said product

What I liked best was the villain doing his 'Acting with fruit'

really hilarious. in the last bit. showing his true lack of consideration for the big generallissimo by eating his apple with disdain, then picking his teeth. Really the best bit in the film. other bond villains get cats or bald heads or funny names but this one was acting with fruit.

also liked the other fruit moment which was when the bowl of very red cherries went crashing to the floor mid chase upstairs. nice.

only bit i wasnt sure about was his cardi and shirt combo when he went to visit his crinkly-handsome friend in his villa. Nice shirt, great cardi, but together? Not very bond I dont think.

O and the opening credits with the naked ladies and the sand. close to the bone or what! actually close to the nipple would be more accurate.

I loved it though. perfect multiplex hangover action.

I was led to believe there was no plot and that the content was a load of pish. Speaking of pish, has anyone seen the latest Coen Bros? What an odd film...almost nothig happens in it. Its quite telling(Look away now-SPOILER ALERT)that the only scene I found funny was when Brad Pitts gormless face stares out at Clooney just before he gets capped. Easily the worst Coen bros film yet...yes, even worse than Intolerable Cruelty(Havent seen Ladykillers yet so cant comment).

    • Just had a huge dump of overdue mail today; a birthday card sent on 11 March (that birthday is now long gone!), a missing SIM card, which had to be ordered again, overdue PCN correspondence from Southwark, meaning fines have been missed without me knowing (again!). This is a problem which stems back to the closure of the E.Dulwich sorting office over 5 years ago, although Royal Mail keep saying that they've now got it in hand. Rubbish! Local MP Ellie Reeves knows about it. Go ahead and email her please, as I've been doing! ([email protected]) I'm heartily sick of the problem; it has tangible consequences for people when the mail is so unreliable!
    • Hi all, just jumping in to help clear up some confusion around CityHive London C.I.C. CityHive is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) that supports food banks, soup kitchens, and community hubs across London and surrounding areas. It operates in the same space as respected organisations like The Felix Project, City Harvest, and Fareshare. The key difference? Those larger organisations often receive big grants and corporate funding — but they’re able to do that because they pay professional bid writers to apply for those grants. And guess what? Bid writers aren't free. They’re often paid staff or consultants, which smaller groups like CityHive simply can’t afford. Instead, CityHive runs on the kindness and generosity of individual people — everyday donors, volunteers, and fundraisers who believe in what they do. Some have asked why a food-related group would need money. It’s important to understand: Money is essential for things like: Fuel and van hire to deliver food Buying fresh ingredients and shelf-stable items Renting storage space Basic admin to keep things organised and running smoothly If you’re ever unsure about someone fundraising for CityHive, you can always contact their office to verify. They’re happy to provide reassurance. If you want to see the impact of their work, check out their Instagram: @cityhivemedia. You’ll see the real organisations and people who benefit, showing their appreciation publicly. Not everyone can give money — and that’s totally fine. But even a like or a share goes further than criticism. Sadly, it feels like there are more haters than helpers out there right now. If you’re genuinely curious or concerned, ask for proof — and when it’s shown, help spread the good. Don’t just assume the worst about people trying to make a difference. Let’s be louder with love than we are with doubt. 💛
