Steady on, Ted, calling Mark a Sissy's a bit strong.

Though if this was the Song Game thread I'd be nominating Running Up That Hill - Kate Bush, so I would.

Moos, apart from the first two, about which you couldn't be wronger, everything else you bitch-slap is spot on.

Humbug and yawny yawn, indeed.

Sending you hugs.

I can't be arsed with any of those linky/limerick/game/story type threads as I'm sure no-one reads anything than the entry before their one to get the link and then put their band/lyric/sentence/whatever in to show just how clever they are for just the next person

I seem to be caught in the middle on this (oh hush!)

Limericky/word/song threads - I like wordplay and that but these are just way too.. can't think of a better word.. random. I never feel tickled, amused or in any way enriched

Music room - come on - I have seen and heard music and videos I wouldn't have ever come across - definitely a goto place. And if people are showing off.. good. I don't know enough about music.. bring your knowledge ON

Football.Gaming threads. yeah I can see why people don't like them. But that's the subject matter more than what the thread does. The limerick/word association threads are different..

I avoid the Football thread (apart from the occasional dive in to mention the word "Soccer" to set the Soccer-Fans

a-twittering), the gaming thread (for obvious reasons), anything to do with lost cats (just pinch somebody elses cat - thats what everybody else is doing, isnt that clear by now?), Scrabble threads (I cant spell, I dont need a board game to prove it), school related threads (send them to the nearest, its more convenient) and any worthy cause threads (Panda's are an evolutionary dead end and should be allowed to become extinct with dignity).

I like anything that ends in a drink or a curry, purile banter and curtain twitching gossip.

I enjoyed the Quiet Room until we ran out of funny and original ideas.

Word Association (surely the most pointless thing in the world, ever!)

The Song Game (even though at one time I would join in).

Quiet Room (used to be great fun, but ended up being taken over by one or 2 people, and just became dull)

Dark Room (liked the idea, but then couldn't really be bothered with it)

Music Room (Probably because I have no sound at work, and can't be bothered once I'm home)

Limericks (Definitely wouldn't lump it in with word association, was a good idea, but not really my bag)

Things like football, cricket, badminton, scrabble are going to be interesting to some and not others, simple as that.

I tend to hate any "what shop is going to open in that space?" type threads, but can't help jumping in sometimes when the anti chain gang wade in.

I rarely post outside of the lounge now unless something really catches my interest.

As an aside, I can't help but laugh, but want to scream in equal measure when Sean can't help himself but say something along the lines of "this thread has already been done HERE, do we really need another one?" (sorry Sean).

Sadly the Dark room was somewhat stillborn the moment a picture of a fucking cat was posted.

Fickr does photoey stuff, sensible to leave it there, though like any niche interest thread (yes even footie is a niche interest) it serves a purpose as a place to discuss...err...a niche interest.

I'm with Sean on the Music room, I always listen to other postings when possible and have even bought albums on the strength of something I've heard there.

D'ja think the point could be that different strokes are for different folks? How radical.

For a significant percentage of the Forum's users all this jibber-jabber in the Lounge is just that, and the Wanted section is the only thing that's used.

Hmm. You haven't seen the posts I've been typing and deleting replying to your last on Angela's thread! Sigh....

Now come on, why can't we all just get along, and quietly and with dignity, respect the right to fellow EDFers to just post on the threads that they want to.

Let's just take a glance at a thread and if we don't like it, then don't visit it ever again and leave it for those who take pleasure in it.

As I might have have put it on the Song Game, All You Need Is Love - The Beatles.

Think about it.

What's going on here? People having a pop at threads that I like?

There's no room for objectivity round here. Some threads are good. Some threads are crap.

Some are crapper than Thomas Crapper having a crap. That's official.

As I might have put it on the Song Game, If You Don't Want To F@ck Me F@ck Off - Wayne County & The Electric Chairs.

Exactly HB. Very well put. For example, the day that I click on the Cricket/Badminton/Football threads will be the day that I?ve gone face down in a vat of Grey Goose. And yet I would fight to the death * for the right of those forumites who like to knock a ball about having something to call their own.

* only a figure of speech, obviously.

And if they wish to knock a ball about they could visit the Song Game and wait for the right time to post Ball Of Confusion - The Temptations.

That'd do 'em good.

The Fox

The fox went out to the chase one night

Prayed to the moon to give him light

He had many a mile to go that night

Before he reached the town-o, town-o town-o,

Many a mile to go that night before he reached the town

Many a mile to go that night before he reached the town

He ran 'til he came to a great big pen

Where the ducks and the geese were kept there in

Said a couple of you gonna grease my chin

Before I leave this town o, town o, town o

Couple of you gonna grease my chin before I leave this town

Couple of you gonna grease my chin before I leave this town

He grabbed the grey goose by the neck

Throwed a duck across his back

He didn't amind with the quack, quack quack

And the legs all dang-ling down-o, down-o, down-o

Didn't amind with the quack, quack quack

And the legs all dang-ling down-o, down-o, down-o

Didn't amind with the quack, quack quack

And the legs all dang-ling down-o, down-o, down-o

Old mother Flipper Flapper jumped out of bed

Out of the window she cocked her head

Cryin' John, John the grey goose is gone

And the fox is on the town-o, town-o, town-o

John, John the grey goose is gone

And the fox is on the town-o

John, John the grey goose is gone

And the fox is on the town-o

Well, the fox he came to his own den

There were the little ones, eight, nine, ten

Saying Daddy you better go back again

'Cause it must be a mighty fine town-o, town-o, town-o

Saying Daddy you better go back again

'Cause it must be a mighty fine town

Saying Daddy you better go back again

'Cause it must be a mighty fine town

Well, the fox and his wife without any strife

Cut up the goose with a carving knife

They never had such a supper in their life

And for you Bon3Yard is the first known mention of 'Grey Goose' in popular culture.

You're a chef, so I thought you'd appreciate it.

Burl Ives did a version. That was the one that I'm most familiar with.

    • And the Sainsbury’s own brand chocolate mini rolls have gone from £1.15 to £1.40 overnight, so 22%-ish. I prefer them them to the Cadbury original because they have a lot more chocolate on them, presumably because they’re made in a less advanced factory. I would think that getting the Rizla thin coating of chocolate that Cadbury’s accountants demand onto a piece of sponge is quite a sophisticated operation. Discuss.
    • Another recommendation for Leon. He was able to come out to our electrical elergency within 24 hours of me contacting him. His communication was great and whilst he could not solve our problem, he was able to perform tests to identify this and did so quickly and efficiently. He charging  is very fair and his manner very pleasant. Both of these in contrast to some experiences I have had elsewhere.    happy to put my name to recommending Leon. His number is  07707 925039.
    • Other than acting as 'interested parties' Southwark Councillors have no responsibility for water issues. And no real leverage either. Considering the complete disdain with which Thames Water treats its own Regulator, and the government, (let alone its customers) I doubt very much whether an entire battalion of councillors would have much impact. What powers could they exercise?
    • That may not be so - many on this site are experts in many areas - you yourself claim huge traffic management (or similar) expertise for instance. And I think you will find that Southwark employees are unlikely to support criticism or challenges to Southwark policy - why, you don't and you apparently neither live in, or vote in, the borough. Do you, however, work for it, as you are such a cheerleader? If not, then you are the most passionate disinterested person on this site, as regards so many aspects, not just traffic.
