I want them to get rid, but that has just become a lot harder.

Do you people really think football is still an honourable gents game?

It's a nasty corrupt money fuelled entertainment industry. Why the hell would YOU be embarrassed? Like they care about you the little individual.

And you haven't remotely answered my issue with this by saying this is a third offence. It was not his third offence in a Liverpool shirt. His club paid for that offence, and he could still represent his country. Is it so hard to see why that is a bit shit on his club?

I have never claimed he is anything other than a mentalist. I just want the team I support to have the best chance they can next season, and that means he's available to play or be sold. We can sell, but only for a cut price now.

Being a football fan is weird. We do know it's many of the things you say

But there are small pockets left of "the right thing"

Wenger offering sheffield utd a replay when kanu and over mars combined to score is the first example that popped into my head

Fowler telling a ref it wasn't a penalty

Both a loooooooooong time ago in football terms. Can you imagine a striker these days actually telling a ref it wasn't a penalty? Most of them are going to ground trying to win a penalty.

I'd love to see stuff like that, but can't imagine it at top level these days.

I know Suarez and the biting thing is "out there" and inexcusable, but what has basically bugged me the last couple of days is comments like "cheating scum" because when it comes to actual cheating, he's no worse than a ton of other players in the PL and all over the world.

Once again, the worst thing he has ever done for me is the hand ball in the last WC. Blatant cheat, and a pretty clever / cynical thing to do.

The biting is just bizarre, but at the end of the day, it didn't cost Italy anything the other night, they just lost.

I think FIFA have got it right. None of this is about Liverpool, or Uraguay per se. It's about the conduct of one man, Suarez, and the punishment has to be directed at him. If Liverpool are the club unlucky enough to have him on their books, then tough. Suarez is a liability when he behaves like that. FIFA are right to make everyone connected with him, realise the cost of that liability. Perhaps if he can't get employment because of his actions, it might just make the thug understand he isn't above the law. If he had done that on a street corner after a night out, he'd be up on an ABH charge and common assualt.

Next due up - Sepp Blatter himself. He's put himself up for relection again - corrupt, deluded and vain, most of him reminds me of Zimbabwe's Mugabe.

Di Canio's 'catch'

Last word I'll say on this.

I think this ban will be an inconvenience to Suarez, he'll lose his chance to be the big star at this WC. In the long run his clever PR Team will probably make it work for him somehow.

For me Liverpool FC are the biggest losers as a result of it, and yes I feel they have been harshly punished for something completely out of their control after having kept him grounded for the season.

But I'll never convince most of you so fuck it.

Agree about Blatter MrBen.

Liverpool have gambled on Suarez and lost

They knew he did this before more than once and stuck by him

They knew he angled to get away last season and stuck by him

He was a big racist and they stuck by him

And with him they have won nothing. Liverpool fc hoped they would benefit from his skills. They haven't. Now they can choose to stick by him or let some other suckers deal with him

But as a club they are bigger than any single player and should be planning accordingly

He is a persistent cheat and people know that, hence the jubilation that there's some sort of comeuppance.

Plenty of others in the game I'm sure people would feel equally pleased about, no one's claiming he's unique.

Irony of course is that biting isn't actually cheating (though his feigned reaction was) , just plain wrong.

Wow. The holier than thou attitude on here is brilliant.

And as for "He's a big racist" should have added "fat" for extra impact there.

Suarez is a nob and has been punished. I'll wait for the next 4-5 pages of outrage when another player does something controversial. Neymar's elbow last night? No comment.

    • I don't think there are stupid questions Sue.  There are informative questions, policy questions, normative questions.... You suggest to do a sort of survey! Interesting idea but not for me as I have other priorities and if I do not address these with NHS doctors I will go, once again, privately.  In any case as many people using this forum know, GP surgeries in England offer at present services that in most cases do not and cannot cover matters that are under the remit of secondary care - for instance rheumatologists clinics in hospitals. If the dismantlement of NHS England will bring possible positive changes also in primary care with more choices for people  I do not know but I would really hope so because at the moment lot of people with chronic rheumatic conditions  fall into the cracks  of he system, that means are not seen by NHS rheumatologists that have long queues and cannot be cured by GPs neither in most cases, even when (I am sure about this and I would like to know more) there are physicians and local GPs fully qualified and experts to do such jobs even if they are not rheumatologists!    Thank you for your time Sue and by the way  if you do any survey like the one you mentioned please let us know.
    • There was a thread about this a year ago that included a post from the new owners. Be great to have an update - nothing seemed to be happening when I walked by last week. https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/343709-kenro-press-empty-shop-forest-hill-road/#comment-1662773
    • And don't the Veolia collection teams wear uniforms with Southwark Council logo on them...this might explain why the councillors were so keen to point out the lorry wasn't operated by the council because if you saw a load of people clambering out of the cab of a lorry one that just rolled wearing clothing emblazoned with the council logo you might think it was being operated by the council. The Helen Hayes reference is weird as well it was almost as if the councillor post was: this is awful, nothing to do with us, speak to Helen.
