Lizziedjango
Best place to go for Bonfire Night? Is there anywhere local? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4464-fireworks-events-in-the-area/ Share on other sites
Ted Max
Usually free ones at Brockwell Park, and also over in Southwark Park - depending on where Lambeth and Southwark Councils have decided on this year. Worth checking the Council websites, I'd reckon. There's also a ?5 pay-on-the-door one at Dulwich Sports Club on Burbage Road - once inside there's a bar, BBQ, sweet stalls etc.EDIT: Southwark Park display and Brockwell Park display. Jeremy
Go on then Sean, I'll bite... just wait in the comfort of your own hallway, you'll soon get your very own display courtesy of the local youths. SeanMacGabhann
spoilsport! ;-)If we go fireworking it's usually to Brockwell Park. I've sort of gotten over the whole thing (fireworks generally - Brockwell Park puts on a fine show) but Lady Mac still loves it. I think we compromised last time by watching from the beer garden of the Florence Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4464-fireworks-events-in-the-area/#findComment-143883 Share on other sites

Peckhamgatecrasher
Just to note, if you are driving to Blackheath, leave in plenty of time, the roads get v. clogged. I missed it one year due to this. Better to go by train. Pubs are heaving also, so if you want a pint without fighting through a scrum, get there early. Moos
Blackheath is top. Although you aren't allowed to wave sparklers around, presumably in case you injure yourself or your fellow man; and that is just annoying. Brendan
They?ll be stopping you from popping a friendly firework through your mate?s letter box next. Bloody health and safety. Moos
Well quite. Please can everyone refrain from bringing a Certain Tabloid Newspaper into this, though. It's just annoying, I personally think it's overkill, but I have no wish to invoke the rage of those who remember Better Times, nor contributions from those who wish to accuse the former of wanting to bring back hanging. Brendan
Little bit of hanging never hurt anyone. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4464-fireworks-events-in-the-area/#findComment-144094 Share on other sites
Ted Max
Brendan, yes it's the cricket ground at the end of the lane that goes up beside the railway arches off Burbage Road. You can wave sparklers and everyting. Asset
Um, my ha'pennorth.... I went to the Dulwich one a few years ago. Paid the money and was mighty disappointed with the show. Just a bit further is Brockwell Park and the show there is great and free. Plus Brockwell is on the 5th.
