I saw last night's by accident, hadn't even heard of it.

Rather good. I dunno though, running zombies, it's not very orthodox, and even the production values felt VERY 28 days later.

Didn't stop it from being very funny and entertaining though, great turn by Davina McCall as hungry zombie too..

Is that Jamie Winstone fella actually any good or just famous?

And blimey, how gory?!

Very much looking forward to World War Z too!!

OK, as if people don't think I'm geeky enough already....

J. Michael Straczynski is doing the script which is a good thing, he wrote most of Babylon 5 (along with guests such as Neil Gaiman) and so can handle lots of characters, a vast back story and good characterisation, as well as buckets of humour thrown in.

Not seen any actors announced yet, we still have over a year to wait on this one sadly.

Jaime Winstone - she's the lead character. Very good I think - just the right mix of vulnerability and toughness. Am enjoying the whole thing very much. I don't watch much telly these days, but if more of it were like this...

Slightly uneasy about the running zombies, but at least they can't climb (yet) and are still suitably stupid.

Last night's episode was a bit on the short side, but at least I only have to wait until this evening for more.

Due to me mucking up multi channel sky +'ing monday night, watched first ep last night. Really like the way the gory bits are done quickly and with funny camera work so I don't spend too much time going "eekk/ewww" and similar!

Looking forward to watching more tonight and how it pans out.

Especially funny having watched Charlie Brooker's Screenburn about reality TV (and the enduring friendship he now has with Asheline as a result of it - he was writing about his USA road trip with her in the guardian this w/e!!).

Brooker seems to have changed of late (say last 6 months or so) - He seems less happy to have a caustic go at someone for teh sake of a witty put-down (getting ahead of the game pre Brand maybe? ;-) )

I reckon it has a lot to do with him befriending Aisling from one of the Big Brothers and seeing life from the other side. It doesn't seem to have cheered him up - quite the opposite in fact - but he's definitely more cautious

So, next series of Screenwipe may not be what we expect

Ha yes, that's daisy referring to his game playing. I love this bit too.

Brian: Can I borrow a tea-bag?

Tim: [sarcastically] Only if you bring it back. [pauses] You can HAVE a tea-bag, Brian, you can't borrow one. [turns around, sees Brian dressed as a painting] You've got paint on you.

Brian: It's a literal tribute to the self reflexivity of Rembrandt.

Tim: Did he like it?

Brian: He's dead.

Tim: Bloody hell, that really backfired.

Brian: What are you playing?

Tim: Tomb Raider 3.

Brian: She's drowning.

Tim: Yeah.

Brian: Is that the point of the game?

Tim: Depends what mood you're in really.

Brian: What sort of mood are you in then?

Tim: Well, I got a letter from my ex-girlfriend this morning, 3 months too late, explaining why she dumped me. It was full of 'you'll always be special' and 'I'll always love you' platitudes designed to make me feel better whilst simultaneously appeasing her deep seated sense of guilt for dumping me, running off with a slimy little city boy called Duane and destroying my faith in everything which is good and pure.

Brian: So it didn't really work then.

Tim: No, it made me wanna drown things!

    • That’s another big hike on the Sainsbury’s mini rolls! I spoke to one of the managers on the day of the anchovies price rise but all he could say was that his store doesn’t set the prices. Very vague and not helpful. i started this thread about price rises in  Sainsbury’s and it’s somehow being blamed on Brexit etc!
    • And the Sainsbury’s own brand chocolate mini rolls have gone from £1.15 to £1.40 overnight, so 22%-ish. I prefer them them to the Cadbury original because they have a lot more chocolate on them, presumably because they’re made in a less advanced factory. I would think that getting the Rizla thin coating of chocolate that Cadbury’s accountants demand onto a piece of sponge is quite a sophisticated operation. Discuss.
    • Another recommendation for Leon. He was able to come out to our electrical elergency within 24 hours of me contacting him. His communication was great and whilst he could not solve our problem, he was able to perform tests to identify this and did so quickly and efficiently. He charging  is very fair and his manner very pleasant. Both of these in contrast to some experiences I have had elsewhere.    happy to put my name to recommending Leon. His number is  07707 925039.
    • Steven is an amazing personal trainer! He's incredibly motivating and knowledgeable, and he's helped me push myself further than I thought I could. In just 3 weeks, I've noticed a significant improvement in my strength and overall fitness. He's not just a trainer, he's an excellent motivator and a great person to work with. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to achieve their fitness goals.
