Calsug
Just a word of warning I'm pretty sure I had my card cloned on Thursday evening whilst using one of Barclays ATMs on lordship lane. Luckily Natwest stopped someone in the Philippines withdrawing a sizeable sum of money yesterday but still it's a pain and a horrible feeling to think someone has stolen your details. Keep any eye out to see if the card slot looks different etc... I generally check so this one must have looked pretty goodCalsug Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44415-card-skimming-on-atms/ Share on other sites
Loz
It happens and is REALLY hard to spot. ALWAYS cover you hand with complete and utter paranoia whenever you enter your pin. I generally use my wallet or the Metro/ES if I have them to hand. And that includes shops. There are CCTV cameras pointed at you... pinecone
Which machine? The one on the corner or the one on the street? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44415-card-skimming-on-atms/#findComment-747615 Share on other sites
EPB
Whenever it's possible I use the cash-back facility at the Co-op. It means waiting to be served by a real human checkout assistant, but it's worth it for the peace of mind.I sure that Sainsburys and Tesco do cash-back as well - worth checking. Mustard
It could have been somewhere else and they had been sitting on the details for a while. Mine was cloned once a while ago, not sure where though, but think it might have been a petrol station. My bank phoned me one Saturday to ask if I was in Germany and had tried to withdraw some money. I wasn't and thankfully the bank hadn't allowed the transaction. MelonSmasher
watch out for the atms in the hsbc primark vicinity in peckham. Best way is to grab the card insert bit, shake it to test its legit, cover pin. I also throw in a few 'decoy' pin entries while covering with other hand without actually pushing button, although this last measure could be paranoia after years of hard drug use, who knows Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44415-card-skimming-on-atms/#findComment-748018 Share on other sites
caz
Not an ATM problem but a warning to anyone who uses PayPal. Someone managed to hack their way into my account and bought themselves a lovely new computer with my money. I'm sure other EDF'rs are not as lazy as me but in case you are make sure you use a dedicated password for PayPal.
