ms_1316
Has anyone else tried their organic bread on a Saturday morning? Is organic synonymous with 'worlds most stale'? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4433-the-cheese-block/ Share on other sites
SeanMacGabhann
heavy and dry isn't the same as stale, but I know what you mean - especially for the non-white breads (and it's nowt to do with Cheese Block I don't think - any deli I've ever been that sold organic wholewezzzzzzzz has tended to be .. dense) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4433-the-cheese-block/#findComment-142790 Share on other sites
ms_1316
This surprises me to be honest as I've never found fresh bread to be like this. I've also never thrown a loaf away before, but I tried to make toast with it and that was even worse!Any recommendations on some really nice fresh bread that can be bought on a saturday morning to go with my bacon? ms_1316
Ah, the EDD - I almost went there instead of the Cheese Block. Curse my mild obsession with their Brunost... Ant
Just try getting a baked badger though. I've had no luck in four years. They must sell out really quick or something.Edited to keep on topic: I like their bread but wonder whether someone after a loaf of organitastic deli-bread would feel underwhelmed by it. Moos
Northcross Road bread stall sells great bread. And I'm sorry to lower the tone, but Sainsbury's does a lovely multigrain loaf. SimonM
For making a bacon sandwich on a Saturday try one of the baguettes from Mootown - the Welsh cheese place in the Warehouse. And Cafe 2050 does nice bread 7 mornings a week too, but they quickly sell out. *Bob*
If it must be 'bought bread', then it must be Warburtons bread. The bread that laughs in the face of other breads.Bread. Bread. Bread. nancysmum
perhaps i'm not posh enough to post on this subject, but i think the bakers opposite mootoo (you know, the one with the blue fascia) does lovely bread. It's always fresh, it lasts two or three days (and if i haven't eaten it by then the ducks in peckham rye love it) and they also do a mean hog roast weekdays! It may not be ?3 a loaf but it sets off my william rose bacon perfectly!
