Came home tonight just before 8.30pm and saw a man urinating up against the mural behind Hinkley Road. He saw me walking by on the path and I shouted at him and waved my phone to show I had taken a picture of him and his highly anti social behaviour. His reaction was to laugh, wave his privates at me and then he just walked off. He was well dressed in a suit and tie and it wasn't yet dark so he obviously didn't care who witnessed this. Outrageous.

Even if it might be deserved, admin can't have that kind of photo posted on the forum. A while ago someone posted a photo of someone accused of taking a dump on the floor of the gents in the EDT, but it had to be taken down.

Well it was more about the public place he had chosen and he obviously didn't care about who might be passing by. It also seems very disrespectful to the local artist. There also seems to be an increase in men urinating in the street when there are many other places they could ask to use - it's what women have to do after all - so it's very lazy too.

healey,

your tone suggests that urinating in public, against a work of art and then waving your genitalia at anyone who dares to object is more or less acceptable- no evidence at all that he was drunk. Don't think the OP is being OTT in their response, if someone is genuinely caught short they should try to find somewhere unobtrusive and perhaps apologise to anyone that happens to see them.

The lack of public loos in ED have been around for many years. It was suggested that loos be put near the Electricity sub station in North X Road but this never happens. Ok whilst some pubs and cafes do not mind people using their loos with purchasing something first, others don not.

Some people have a medical problem with holding their urine so rarely go out due to lack of public loos.

Oh for goodness sakes. All of you holier than thou hypocrites are you honestly telling me you've never been caught short? Yes it's against the law, yes there's a possible fine blah blah blah. If you are desperate enough to need the loo, and let's say have a medical condition and need to take water tablets and are caught short in an area with no public lavatories you may be forced to find a quiet spot to urinate or else soil your under garments. Mountain out of a molehill. Also, to the OP, why would you not wait until the person finished their business and then politely informe them what they were doing was wrong or maybe ask why they were doing it in a public place? Direct them to a toilet for future reference? It's beyond me this post, sorry. Shouting loudly and waving your phone is provocative surely? Hardly diplomatic.

Louisa.

Louisa your strong defence of this person is a bit startling. I don't think it was a case of a medical condition or that he was drunk, rather he was urinating in a public place and not down an alley somewhere. He didn't apologise or display any shame or embarrassment for his actions in a place where many people pass regularly and just laughed at me. Perhaps if it was your own front was then you may have reacted differently. If you really do think that I was in the wrong and should have waited until he finished and then try to counsel him in a diplomatic fashion then I find that attitude astonishing. I prefer to believe that we have evolved somewhat and that there is no excuse for this sort of unsocial behaviour.

    • If I correctly paste this url in, you can see exactly what Tesco plc is proposing to do with the site: https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/files/82A133E84D9AF5351A8B38889C17E72D/pdf/25_AP_1353-PROPOSED_ELEVATION_1-4061617.pdf
    • Helen and Steve did an incredible job transforming our garden (erecting a new fence, building decking, laying a new lawn and planting). Helen is very thoughtful and helped to prepare a detailed plan ahead of the work starting aligned to what we wanted and within our budget. The team worked quickly and efficiently and were incredibly polite and professional throughout. Everything was carried out to such a high standard and I couldn’t be happier with the result - we have got so much enjoyment from the garden since then. Highly recommend!
    • Silly question, but have you reported this elsewhere as well as on here? Eg passport office, banks (if there are bank cards), police? Because if someone is carrying around their passport (assuming it's theirs) they must be pretty devastated if they have lost it, and it's fairly unlikely they will see this post, though fingers crossed.
    • * Big, sick & tired sigh * Ok, so here is this year's small selection of Gala litter that has been left behind. I have to emphasise, it is only a small part of what is still there, collected on Tuesday from a relatively small area in the south of the ex-site. I also have to emphasise this only took about an hour of slow wandering, using only my eyes & hands - no specialist equipment, and I'm not a paid employee of a specialist waste management company. And to confirm, this is after "The site was checked at the end of GALA’s tenancy and found to be clear of event-related litter" by the Council / Parks Dept. There's 488 items there, many of which would be potentially hazardous to children, pets & wildlife. Not least the small bag in the bottom left corner, still containing a suspicious white substance. I'm hoping to pass this on to the police for testing, ensuring it is recorded for the purposes of next year's licence consideration.  Please - before anyone posts any comments defending this, denying it is festival related, insulting me, whatever - just go and have a close look yourself, particularly where the tents, stages & toilets were sited. It's obviously from the festival, and there's still loads of it there, all over our park. It is literally being trashed, year after year, despite repeated assurances from the organisers.  I'm sick of it, it's just so depressing.
