byngo
HiAm planning to cycle to Peckham Rye station (I know, I know... I should cycle to work!) and just wondered if anyone had any good or bad experiences with leaving their bike there. Thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4383-parking-my-bicycle-at-peckham-rye-station/ Share on other sites

Only me!
This will be a great labour saving idea the first time you try it & it will work perfectly right up until you get back off the train that evening. When it will become apparent why you will not be having a second attempt. ChavWivaLawDegree
If you no longer want your bike, I'll take it off ur hands - I'm a far worthier cause than te bike theives you want to give it to. JohnL
You could train your dog to guard the bike all day and pay a friendly butcher to feed the dog.Otherwise I'd say better not. CamberwellOz
Where do you need to get to from Peckham Rye? As long as it isn't 20 miles away, I could help you out with a cycle route (and ride it with you) if you like. cookie
My advice is to buy a cheap and nasty second hand bike, and a lock that's worth much more than the bike.I bought a bike for ?10 of a forum member about 6 months ago, leave it at Herne Hill station every day and it's not been nicked yet. Even forgot the lock once, but it was still there in the afternoon. It sounds like a bag of spanners and is heavy and clumsy, but for a 10 or 15 minute ride it's fine. With regards to locks, Brixton Cycles told me some years ago, that the only lock they had trouble getting off customer's bikes who'd lost the key were the big Kryptonite style motorbike chain locks, so I bought one of those. They're heavy, but give peace of mind. Clinker
-Unless you want to cycle home without a bike seat on the way back... may be pretty painful.on a separate note, why does East Dulwich Train Station have that stupid bike cupboard/storage thing... that would be more useful if it was in Peckham however...
