Pickle
The cable car across the Thames is fun, good for not so nice weather as you can explore the O2 at the other side. edanna
I think the Tower of London is a great day out - didn't go for ages because of the cost but you can get deals such as the National Rail 2 for 1 offer. There is so much to see and do, it really is a full day out and you get a unique perspective on the river and Tower Bridge from the walls of the tower. There's a kids' trail and a badge and pencil saying trainee princess/knight. Our kids 6 and 3 loved it. bkkmei
Just a little note about the Diana playground in Kensington Gardens. It's a really fun place with a huge pirate ship for the kids to clamber around. Please note that the nearest station is Queensway! Don't do what I idiotically did and trek across the whole of Hyde park to get to it, unless of course you want to... bkkmei
scareyt - interesting blog! Reminded me that Battersea Zoo was a lot of fun for my two - though it was more the climbing frames and sandpit rather than the animals that they liked. clux
Mudlarking on the beach along the Southbank is good. Can always find some pottery or an old clay pipe to take in for show and tell. Carbonara
The Olympic Park is brilliant for small children and primary aged kids. Loads of excellent playgrounds and features. For older ones: take a skateboard. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/43755-ideas-needed-london-day-out/#findComment-744377 Share on other sites
Lou
Thanks for all the great suggestions. The weather was so great we ended up having a day at Dulwich Park, pedalos hire bikes etc. And went to museum of childhood, which involved trains & tubes, highlight of the day! Will store up other suggestions! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/43755-ideas-needed-london-day-out/#findComment-744422 Share on other sites
