I wanted to post some information about www.simplychildcare.com because I have recently had problems with them - I signed up, created an advert, paid a ?35 subscription but even though my money was taken, my ad never went live. I tried contacting them by phone but the number is disconnected, and there are no replies to emails.

Anyway, I eventually found (via BT phonebook) the home phone number of the owner of the company, and after ringing it I found out that, very sadly, the owner has recently passed away and sold the business. Clearly there should be information notifying potential customers of this on the website, but there is not. The new owners are Eden Private Staffing and you can find the right phone number by googling them. They were helpful when I eventually got hold of them.

Hi Bikechick, hopefully you've not lost your ?35, but I'm also very sorry that the owner of simplychildcare has passed away.

Simplychildcare have been very helpful to me when I first started out as a childminder and I remember the type-written lists of parents looking for childcare/childcarers looking for work that I used to receive from them, with lots of helpful phonecalls in-between.

Your title thread BEWARE seems a bit extreme to me.

Oh my, that is such sad news. Simply childcare has been an enormously helpful source of information for generations of families in and around ED. Both it and it's owner will be sadly missed and their loss much mourned.

I agree with Minder that in view of SIMPLY's long,& positive local associations the OP might consider changing the title to something a bit more respectful.

    • For clarity,  since the heat seems to be getting to people - my friends in Hampshire, Essex, Cornwall tell me that the same insanity is happening there - probably in other counties to! I have in the past seen adults walking last year with  young children with no hat or to the best of my knowledge suns-cream on and idiots in Dulwich Park allowing their children or who knows maybe it is the au pair or nanny taking the kids to the park when it is over 30 degrees.. I rest my case - doesn’t matter if you have 4 feet or 2 - 4 feet suffer more as generally have a coat and no protection on their feet / 2 feet at least have foot protection. Like I said, I am just joining  the conversation - everyone has a right to their own opinion. For all you know or anyone, if a person has taken a dump might have been unwell, couldn’t find toilet in time.. numerous reasons - mental health problems, homeless whatever. Not pleasant I agree, but get a pair of rubber gloves and deal with it. We all live in the same community and in this heat with kids about, would have thought plus flies etc - do it if you live on the same street or area / people just walk past I assume and god knows how long council would take to come.  Says nothing about human nature - not my problem… seems to be the way of the world in towns these days.
    • I don't think it's just dog-owners who are half-wits. An actual human has taken a dump in a newspaper and left it lying on CP Road. Flies are having a field day. I ought to tell the council but pity the poor person sent to clean it up.
    • In the proud spirit of stating the bleeding obvious (!) here is some more RSPCA advice re dogs in hot cars and a downloadable leaflet which contains emergency first aid for heatstroke: https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/dogs/health/dogsinhotcars https://www.rspca.org.uk/documents/1494939/7712578/Dogs In Hot Cars Leaflet.pdf/ade4c043-90ee-7091-c97f-02f047f7b4b3
    • What exactly is the point of having a go at someone who is trying to help and spread useful information? Is the heat getting to people? What does it matter what someone calls dogs?
