You know you're an East Dulwichite when.... (Lounged)

Recommended Posts

1: the only club you want to join these days is the 'Knackered Parents' one.

2: despite the naffness, you opt for the comfort of Crocs (men) and Fit flops (women)

3: you actually recognise all The Bill actors on every street corner, as you are always watching TV, after the kids have gone to bed, on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

4: You could walk around Peckham Rye and Dulwich Parks blindfolded.

5: the highlight of your social calendar these days is the 1 O Clock club

6: you find juggling the demands of work (or not) and the extortionate cost of childcare leaves you permanently frazzled

I'm too knackered to think of anymore....

Re: You know you're an East Dulwichite when....

You are woken by people pulling small bags with wheels on as they find every crack and cranny on there way to work.

You do not get annoyed at people crossing the side roads on the lane without looking.

You notice that the operative on till seven in Somerfields is the fastest, and you take bets with other people queing.

You forgive the recycling team as they noisily go about there business, as they are our saviours.

You smile at the stall holders as they try to sell you art deco, when a better description would be scrap and tat.

You smile at the waste of resources in Foxtons, and note that soon they will be forced by rising costs and the downturn

in the market to make their own descision and turn off the large screen tv.

And finally..... You accept that Southwark Council are probably the best council there is!

Regards,

Libra Carr.

This thread is currently operating at a staggeringly low 10% EDF thermal efficiency (ETE) rating.

It is breathing in Crocs, unruly children, gifted children, children in buggies, Bill actors, claims to ED longevity, Foxtons, and Claphamite reverse-snobbery at a record rating, but generating a very low-heat output.

This is proof that some fuels just can't be re-used, once spent.

    • Thank you @pugwash. I’ll check that out.
    • We've lost our beautiful indoor cat who darted out of a window when we weren't looking. We are very worried about him in this extreme heat and with a thick fur coat. He is a big Siberian Forest cat with no street awareness, so please please share and please let us know if you see him. Thank you!
    • Yes, I have. We have gone fruit (seed/nut and mushroom) foraging in and out of London. I'll just recommend a couple of places I've found most rewarding. Wormwood Scrubs: you'll find blackberries, plums, sloes and apple trees. Holmewood (train journey, then either bike ride/cab to the top of the hill or a very long walk): bilberries galore! Be prepared to spend a few hours picking. It's a lovely area to explore and I am sure there are other wild fruits (I've only been twice due to the distance).
    • Had a green woodpecker visit our back garden this morning. Appeared to be eating ants or ant larvae.
