lol

well I have suggested, or given an opinion on places I like before and if people want to go for EDT that's cool - i would add that the EDT probably gets the biggest slice of forum drinks dollar anyway - I was in there today and bumped into at least 8 others. And quids was lurking too. I really like the place

Before my time, I understand the drinks started off in the EDT as well so I can the return to roots vibe. I'm not voting against it - but a Friday night in there is never going to have the chilled, welcoming vibe of most drinks

And yeah - a suggestion that the Mag is "off the beaten path"?? - seemed plenty of people in there last Saturday

Who said the Mag was off the beaten track? If you care to recall this thread is relating to Hoopers *rolls eyes* so less of the "petty" comments tyvm :p *awaits the shrieking to start*

No seriously I was referring to Hoopers and not thinking just of myself but of others... maybe others might want to follow suit (darn I'm really out to make friends this morn!)

Wuv you all! :)-D

Well. as ever, we have no agreement. Not a problem, but somebody has to make a decision at some point in the near future.

My concern on Hoopers is that we wont be there to listen to the folk music, we will be there to drink and socialise. How will the musicians and their audeince feel about a biggish group ignoring their performance and nattering away, in what is a small space? Perhaps we should concider their feelings in our deliberations?

I am sure Jamie would love to have us there, we just need to liaise with him to ensure that there isnt a clash of incompatable events.

The EDT is noisy, but is a popular pub in the centre of things. I have seen quite a few forumites in their in the past week or so. Clearly it has its charms.

Seriously, no matter what the music is like, it'll be a LOT easier to hear yourself think in Hoopers than in the EDT on a friday night.

I'm sure the folksters will be glad of the atmosphere the EDFD attendees will lend the evening, but it's not up to me, so whatever happens I shall follow like the sheep I am ;-)

I am going to try and talk to Jamie to see what he thinks. If he feels it will be OK, then we can go ahead at Hoopers. If it is otherwise then we can re-arrange to the EDT and agree a future date for Hoopers.

We have never and will never get complete agreement about where we go month by month, so as ever, it will be a compromise. Hopefully over the year, everybody will be completeky happy at some point.

So far I have managed to leave a message for him on his mobile. I will let you know.

I have spoken to Jamie and he is more than happy that the two events are compatible. There is a 2nd bar for those that may wish to chat without listening to the music.

The music itself will consist of live music and a DJ playing the coolest of cool tunes.

All sounds good, so we can stick to plan A and go to Hoopers if that is OK.

Just to point out that the folk was last night, not next week - I believe it's jazz on the forum night.

But thanks for the thought, we do always feel for the musicians (and those who want to listen to them) when there are people there carrying on loud conversations, but hey, it's a pub, there's nothing we can do about it :-S
