Hi

We viewed a terraced property for sale today in hilversum crescent, east dulwich grove. Though not great to look at the outside, really liked the inside, spacious and a lovely gArden, also location seems quite good. But wanted to get some feedback on the area, neighbourhood, crime rates, people etc before we decide make an offer. Being first time buyers , we want to make sure we do the right checks . Any feedback would be appreciated

My mother in law lives in one of these properties and has done for more than 20 years. Nothing significant ever happens around there, you will get your usual drunks shouting in the night etc but no real criminal activity. Sometimes the flight path becomes annoying when its in use over that end of East Dulwich Grove but none of this is out of ordinary for London. The neighbours on each row tend to know each other and are welcoming and friendly. I think its a really good location, and prices are good for the space also.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy there and I've known the area for 7 years.

I live on one of the neighbouring roads and this area is lovely. I think you'd be lucky to live there. The only thing worth possibly mentioning is traffic/vehicles associated with the school run at Alleyns. I don't find this to be a big problem though as it is limited to those times of day and vehicles don't travel at speed. Good luck!

    • That explains why no-one was there when I went yesterday. Something else to complain about this evening then, and given that at least one adjacent ward is having their Labour Party branch AGM this evening (the one Renata Hamvas belongs to), may well be raised in passing conversation there😉 .
    • Why do the street  tree people turn up on the day they are going to actually do  work on a tree, say they need to park their large  vehicle in three adjacent free car spaces, and then expect to be able to immediately find the owners of every nearby car??? And then if they do by luck manage to find one, expect them to move their car somewhere else even though every other space  in the road is taken? And even if that would  leave only one car space, which they can't actually use anyway because they can't find the owners of the other two cars parked next to it? Is it beyond the wit of the tree department to put a communication through the door of nearby houses a week (say)  in advance asking them to save three  spaces on the day?  And even providing cones to do so? I hate to think how much time must be wasted on this. And now, the tree people have come back on another day and seem to be managing to do the work anyway even though there are still no parking spaces near the tree 🙄

    • GBK has gone next to Farmers, showing as permanently closed on Google maps. Could be one of the sites being replaced by an Honest Burgers?
