I had to google this because i didn't get the joke! It doesn't really work as a gag with an Irish/Scottish accent.

PS - Also heard a woman calling out "BEYONCE!!!" in a park in Dublin.

Haha, is that how you managed to score your (very cool) nane for your daughter?

I got quite lucky in that I suggested my okder daughter's name and my wife agreed straight away. Then she suggested the next one and after a quick read of a classic novel I was happy to agree.

Glad wr didn't have a boy as I had no ideas.

Yeh, I thought the same! But hey, language changes .....

Finding this thread a bit off, tbh. Fine line between humour and smug middle class superiority.

But the middle classes are some of the worst offenders... Tbh, it's more of a cultural differences issue, since a couple of the names I found funny are non-UK. And I am sure that other cultures would find some of our names funny since they sound like something rude in their language.

As for the made up names or unusual ones, I may think they sound silly, but at least they involve a bit of imagination.

    • We’l be getting our annual building work done soon (roof ridge tiles redone and the chimney stacks repointed). Mrs Bob says she’ll liaise with the builders and that I should get out from the house so I don’t bother them with inanities. So I’ll be off camping to the Fort again for the Summer - June, July, August, whilst they get on with it. I’ll be in my Decathlon Arpenaz 4.1 fresh and black tent. I’ll have a campfire every Friday night like I usually do.
