Peckham Rye Touch Rugby this Sunday!

EMR

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

We'll be playing touch rugby this Sunday on Peckham Rye Common if you fancy blowing a few cobwebs off. It's totally free as it's just an informal meet up of like minded folk.

11.15 til we get bored or tired (about 1 o clock). You'll find us on the common approximately in between the tree with the circular bench and East Dulwich Road. We're usually the only ones with rugby balls too so that'll narrow it down!

Hope to see some new faces :-)

Hello! We play most Sundays, depending on how many people we know are coming each week. PM me your email address and I'll add you to our our round robin email that goes out on Thursday to count up numbers. :-)

Hi, yep please PM me your email address and I'll add you to the mailing list - this is the only way we can find out numbers and decide whether it's on or not.

Thanks!

Hi all, mixed gender touch rugby is on tomorrow morning (Sunday 18th May) at 11am.

You'll find us on the rugby/Gaelic pitch on Peckham Rye Common.

It's free, just come and have fun learning a new sport!

Hey Darren, you were great and scored loads of tries! Hope to see you again soon :-)

Alan Medic, if i'm understanding your question correctly, if your pass is already in motion when you are touched, the pass is allowed and play continues. If you pass after you're touched (including if you change the direction of the pass mid-way through), then it is called a 'touch pass' and a penalty is awarded to the opposition. A penatly is a tap-kick with the defending team 10m back.

We don't usually play so stringently but it's good to learn the rules as structure!

    • Thanks for brining this up, it is ALWAYS worth bringing up. This is our neighbourhood afterall - if we can't care about our own environs then what else should we be concerned about?  Some war far away where regular people like us won't make a jot of difference but which still attracts tons of cops to police weekly while local kids get beat up?  It takes a cool analytical big-picture head to think just how messed up this situation is.  Too much on the 90% of our lives we cannot control, too little on the 10% we can. I applaud the OP for raising this. With things like stolen bikes, broken-into parked cars, intimidated children it's worth making a report b/c more of more services are driven by stats/KPIs.  Eventually, the numbers amass.  I don't care who is stretched. Tell me someone who would say they're NOT stretched - the point is we all pay tons of tax and are deserve appropriate level of services. Would tea with a cop help? I dunno, think this needs something a bit more decisive than that.  I know there are supplementary parental patrols - worth helping them to assign their resources better by making them aware of recent trouble-spots.  Realise this was out of term-time but worth raising nonetheless.
