Yesterday morning, a white, balding man, slighly overweight, and carrying a large bag, knocked persistently on our front door. Fortunately I had taken the day off work, so was at home. When I answered the door, he insisted he had a 'parcel' for me. Of course, I slammed the door in his face and dialled 101 to report the matter to the police. The guy was quite persistent. Before he left, he pushed a small card through our letterbox. The spidery scrawl of his handwriting was quite hard to read, but he seemed to be inviting me to a 'sorting office' to collect a 'parcel'!!!

Obviously this incident has left me quite distressed, and I'm glad my wife and children weren't home at the time. I've seen other people dressed in similar (blue) clothing, but always in the afternoons, never in the morning.

I live on Barry Road, but would advise people to keep an eye out in case this guy is still operating in the East Dulwich area.

I noticed some men going through my bins this morning, They then removed the green ones, emptied them into a large vehicle (didn't catch the reg, sorry), put them back on my front path and drove away at low speed.

I didn't alert the authorities but have posted here to warn you all to be on the lookout.

    • The SSRS app (Safer seas and rivers service), is worth downloading. It gives you real time updates on water safety / sewage discharges. It's pretty eye opening / alarming, how regularly areas are not safe, but reassuring when you do get the 'all clear'.
    • The programme was brilliant and makes me wary now of sea paddling as so many areas affected. My daughter was working at a bank when privatisation of utility companies were floated. Bank advised its staff that only x number of shares could be purchased by individuals as Government rules at that time. She reported that certain people were seeking double and triple shares. Bank told her to ignore the guidelines as those customers had thousands of pounds in the bank. She was so disgusted at the banks attitude she handed in her notice, She decided that the financial world was too corrupt. Two degrees later - she now works in the NHS as an OT in mental health unit.
