Moos
When did I call it mumbo jumbo?!I wondered why you were sounding so cross earlier.I don't really believe it, but I think it's fun. Wouldn't read my stars in the paper, though. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4276-astrology-thoughts/page/3/#findComment-136933 Share on other sites

Asset
Not cross Moos, just enjoying the banter.Pisces:Emotional, intuitive, expansive. Extremes of elation and depression. Most sensitive of all water signs. Depends on others for shaping or support.Pisces is prominent in the charts of great painters, poets and musicians.Sacrifice of self leads to devoted selfless service for others. In touch with the mystical and beautiful.Physical: Noticeable feet - either dainty or 'sloppy' [i'm quoting here]. Protuberant eyes with liquid beauty, weak chin unless artistic where it is long, large nose. chuff
weak chin, spot on there!A lot of that could be likened to me, but probably to tons of other non pisceans too. Thanks for looking that up asset. Marmora Man
Quote Leos have big hairI'm a Leo and wish this were true - coots are usually called to mind when describing me.In the nature / nurture debate the season in which you were born may have some impact on the nurture part of the equation. Summer babies spend their early months in open air and warmth, winter babies don't - and so on. Apart from that observation I think the whole idea is illogical and foolish - but it's a free world, believe what you will but don't try t persuade me or run the country on the basis of such a belief. chuff
asset, my feet are sort of pretty, but not dainty (size 5) and not sloppy. Not really sure what 'sloppy' feet are but fairly sure I don't have them. mlteenie
Interesting how everyone seems to know their astro sign and even their Chinese sign....I am the finest sign, Aquarius (and I quote: freedom-loving, perverse, original and independent as compared with the so-called 'normal' individual). Aquarius, Leo, Scorpio and Taurus are all 'fixed' signs, meaning firm, resolute nature, but could also mean damn stubborn.I'm a Fire Horse too. Of course I know it's all a load of bolleau... Brendan
How do you find out what Chinese sign you are? chuff
I have asked a friend of mine that is very in to astrology, what she knows. She has said that the star sign we speak of is only our sun sign and that there are many others to take in to consideration. The 4 main others being Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars. Also we should know our rising signs supposedly if we want to do an accurate personality profile. This is not my belief before anyone jumps on it, was just curious after chatting about it last night and decided to find out from someone that actually uses it.so mine aresun sign - piscesrising sign - capricornmoon - leo, makes me a show offmercury - aquarius, makes me a very bad communicator (true)venus - pisces, makes me a bit deep but pathetic sometimesmars - aries, makes me a bit naughty in the bedroom apparently. She broke it down and whether she amended it to suit the me she knows, or whether it was straight out of the book, I don't know. But it was much more me than my 'sun' sign. Not sure how to find out this information, though expect you could get a detailed thingy online.Still wallops of cod, but quite fun to read. Asset
Off the top of my head:Sun - Scorpio (passionate)Moon - Pisces (emotional, perceptve)Rising - Libra (indecisive!)There are websites that will do you a detailed birth chart for free. All you need to know are time and place of birth.Agreed Chuff, it is a bit of fun and shouldn't be taken too seriously. VeryBerryCherry
Yeah, I'm with the Metal Dog, Chuff on this one.I'm a Virgo and a metal Monkeyhttp://bshistorian.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/monkey.jpgI have done my own reading into stars signs and the more interesting and significant stuff is how it all fits together.I don't read my daily horoscopes, unless I really want to know exactly how I have failed to make friends, influence people or win the lottery with my "lucky" numbers from Sceptic Peg. However, natal (birth charts) seem to me scarily accurate. I suppose it's like palm reading, and it al depends on whether you believe all that too. The natal chart is like a map of your personality, it doesn't tell you what is going to happen in your life, just how, based on the time and place of your birth, you are pre-disposed to act in your life. I don't think it's always set in stone, the same as the nurture debate. Just because your parents smoke doesn't mean you will, etc... However, I find that when someone says that their personality doesn't match up to their generic sun sign, it's usually due to a pattern in their other signs. The sun signs is an overarching (like the suns movements) description f your personality, but the sun can be affected by all kinds of things. Your rising sign is how you come across to others; it's your initial 'face' to the outside world. You moon is your emotional sign, your Venus you love and relationships and Mars, your action and anger... etc...When you piece it all together, it's surprising how accurate they can be. I have read into a lot of this and Chinese astrology, which has many similarities, along with other forms of astrology, which does make for interesting reading. But I suppose that's no different to many religions sharing certain tenets and figureheads. But like someone said, this isn't asking you to change your life and believe in some kind of deity. It's interesting because it was treated much like a "science" in the deep and distance past and was consulted concurrently with religion, kings and queens based their decisions on what the astrologer "saw" in their future based on the stars. The way I see it, it's harmless, if you believe in it, you are not hurting anyone and you life isn't going to change that dramatically - unlike some factions of religious groups. I see it more as a "psychology" learning about yourself and learning about how to react and deal with other people. For example, have you ever not got on with someone only to find out their star sign and think, Oh that makes sense, he's an Aquarius (as a Virgo we always seem to have trouble). You then realise that he's not being difficult, they are usually quite shy, despite their love of people, and doing the typical Aquarian thing of coming across as aloof. All I needed to do was spend more time with him and get past that exterior until he felt more comfortable around me - and bingo! Also, whatever your sign do you ever find that you surround yourself with friends and acquaintances with particular signs? You may not even know when you meet people, but you then find out that your new best friend at work is another Aries, or the person you dislike in the office is a Cancer - again! Tony.London Suburbs
Do they still put all the "Female" adverts for "female" products next to the daily Astrological Charts? They always used to.:))Admittedly I am only 54:)) but I can still count the Men of "my" acquaintance who believe a word of this.Used to have fun in some of the Offices that I used to work in reading out the daily charts of the Ladies, either the current day or the previous days comments.Invariably it was "Yes! Yes! that happened or that was close" etc ,conveniently, picking out one of the 5 elements of that days predictions."See I told you there was something in this!" which would be directed at the resident non-believer a.k.a me.Only problem was I used to read out the wrong predictions to each Lady.(tu)(td)Of course most of the daily predictions are so general that most people will find some common element there each day.If one truthfully looks at all 12 predictions each day they, usually, find something that they can relate to.B)Good Game,My Luvs>:D< Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4276-astrology-thoughts/page/3/#findComment-137070 Share on other sites
